The Live Streaming Operator is a skilled technical operator responsible for real-time monitoring and operation of live streaming events, supporting a live monitoring and observability facility in Los Gatos, CA. This role ensures service health across the end-to-end streaming pipeline, including consumer device experience, custom services, and CDN performance.\nThe Live Streaming Operator plays a critical role in live event execution, leading incident response, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with engineering and operations teams. This position requires strong technical expertise, clear communication, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure, live production environments.\nWe're looking for a digital native, someone who is naturally comfortable managing multiple screens, apps, and platforms at once, and who knows how to spot a problem before it becomes a crisis.\nThis position is part of our Flex Workforce. As a Flex team member, you'll work on a project-to-project basis, supporting a variety of leading media and technology clients. Flex roles are ongoing and dynamic. Work may vary in cadence, length, and scope depending on client needs. This setup offers flexibility, exposure to top-tier companies, and the chance to grow your skills across multiple exciting assignments.\nEstimated schedule: 3-5 Days a Month on average, but will scale up during live event programming. This role may work nights and weekends. This position is on-site in Los Gatos, CA.\nResponsibilities:\nLive Event Monitoring & Operation\nIndependently operate and monitor complex live streaming events, ensuring overall service health and optimal viewer experience.\n\nOversee consumer device performance, product service health, and CDN stability during live broadcasts.\n\nValidate stream integrity and proactively identify potential risks during events.\n\nIncident Management & Escalation\nLead real-time incident response during live events, acting as the primary point of contact for operational issues.\n\nDetect, troubleshoot, and escalate issues across the streaming pipeline using internal monitoring tools.\n\nCoordinate with engineering and cross-functional teams to drive resolution.\n\nConduct root cause analysis and contribute to post-event reviews.\n\nOperational Documentation & Process\nDocument incidents thoroughly to support post-mortems and continuous improvement efforts.\n\nEnsure all processes and workflows are clearly defined and consistently followed.\n\nEvent Coordination & Handoffs\nOversee event handoff processes between shifts and teams to ensure seamless continuity of operations.\n\nDocument shift turnover notes and communicate key issues to incoming operators.\n\nCommunicate effectively with incoming operators, providing clear context on event status and any active issues.\n\nSupport alignment across LCC, production, and engineering teams during live events.\n\nTeam Collaboration & Special Projects\nSupport cross-functional projects and special coverage, including high-priority or sensitive programming.\n\nCollaborate closely with operations, production, and engineering teams to ensure successful event execution.\n\nRequired Qualifications & Experience:\nPrevious experience in live streaming operations, in any capacity, whether professional, freelance, or personal (e.g., streaming platform operations, esports or gaming tournament production, podcast production, Discord or online community management, or similar environments).\n\nStrong technical understanding of live streaming pipelines and CDN infrastructure.\n\nProven experience in incident management, including monitoring dashboards and escalation workflows.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in high-pressure situations.\n\nProficiency in troubleshooting consumer devices, software, and basic system issues.\n\nAbility to work independently and make real-time decisions during live events.\n\nHigh level of computer literacy, including proficiency with Slack\n\nExperience using Airtable and/or similar internal tracking and ticketing systems.\n\nComfortable working in virtualized or cloud-based environments (e.g., VMs, elastic compute), managing multiple desktops, devices, and monitors, while navigating complex workflows across numerous applications and browser tabs.\n\nExperience responding to alert-based monitoring systems and working with custom software tools.\n\nFlexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on live event schedules.\n\nPreferred Qualifications & Experience:\nExperience working in large-scale live streaming environments.\n\nFamiliarity with live streaming architecture or similar OTT platforms.\n\nBackground in cross-functional incident response coordination with engineering teams.\n\nExperience contributing to process improvements and operational best practices.\n\nBasic computer literacy (working within a VPN
