This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Specialty Chemicals Production function. This position will report to Operations Manager.\nThe responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:\nReviews daily operation of batch production areas and performs process troubleshooting.\nCollect and analyze data for process optimization to maintain and improve quality/yields and to detect problems that may result in reduced rates and product quality non-compliance.\nWorks with Operations Manager and other Production department staff with ongoing continuous improvement efforts.\nWorks with Process Operators, Engineers, Supervisors, and other site personnel to develop, implement, and improve process control systems within the plant.\nWorks with Research and Development/Pilot Plant on new products.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.\n\nIn order to be qualified for this role, youmust possessthe following:\nA Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.\n1 - 5 years in chemical manufacturing environment. Co-op's/intern experience counts.\nIndividual must be able to respond appropriately during site emergencies as directed by the Site Emergency Manager.\nMust be capable of evacuating the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise. \nMust also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit within the manufacturing process area. This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.\n\nThe following skill sets arepreferred by the business unit:\nPrevious chemical plant manufacturing experience in a GMP and/or PSM facility.\nAbility to interface well with employees involved in process engineering work, including Process Operators, Manufacturing Engineers, and members of site Leadership Team.\nAbility to perform physical activities which include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting 25 lbs., or reaching depending on the work activity required. Work is performed in an office/plant environment with frequent trips to the operating areas to formulate plans, inspect equipment or processes and collect data. \nTraining required to perform the job properly may require this position to travel \nThird party recruiters and agencies (“Agency”) should not contact employees of Ashland or its subsidiaries directly.
