This is a very visible, significant role within the Company as a global technical leader for packaging equipment and standards supporting solid and liquid chemical products across regulated end markets. This is fully remote position but based in Germany and will report to our Director of Engineering.\nThe responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:\nResponsible for standardizing packaging formats, materials, and equipment across regions, while maintaining regulatory and customer-specific compliance.\nDrive sustainable, reliable, and cost-effective packaging solutions through close collaboration with Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Regulatory, Quality, and EHS.\nLead packaging initiatives and manage documentation aligned with European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) goals.\nLead packaging and packaging waste compliance programs related to country-specific requirements under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations\nHands-on experience in executing the installation and retrofitting of packaging equipment\nResponsible for developing global technical specifications and standards\nWork with Procurement to enable competitive bidding and consistent quality across suppliers.\nWork with Engineering to lead packaging-related capital projects through concept, design, testing, commissioning and startup\nTravel Responsibilities - You will get to see the world and meet your colleagues 30% of the time\nActively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety\nImprove the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others\nWhat This Role Is Not:\nThis is not a management position - while you will collaborate with other team members and departments, this is a Subject Matter Expert individual contributor role with no direct reports\nThis is not a project management position - The focus will be on the technical aspects of capital projects and ensuring successful and compliant project outcomes\nIn order to be qualified for this role, youmust possessthe following:\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical, industrial, or packaging engineering\napprox. 10 years of progressive experience in industrial or chemical packaging, technical or engineering background, ideally in application engineering within the specialty chemicals sector\nExperience operating in regulated manufacturing environments\nKnowledge of packaging solutions for specialty powders and liquid chemicals in bulk containers and drums\nProven experience in the industrial packaging of specialty chemicals\nExperience working with products supplied to the personal care, pharmaceutical, or related industries\nWorking knowledge of European packaging sustainability and regulatory frameworks\nUnderstanding of industrial packaging processes, regulations, and customer requirements in B2B chemical markets\nPackaging materials sourcing and supplier management\nPackaging testing, validation, and change management\nCapital Project Execution\nproficiency in excel and data analysis\nExcellent inter-personal and communications skills\nDemonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times\nThe ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different\nFluent in English\nResiding in Germany, fluent in German is a plus\nThe following skill sets arepreferredby the business unit:\nExperience in the pharma, food, or personal care sectors\nExperience with U.S. based projects and suppliers\nManagement of vendors that submit regulatory reports\nSustainability program support:material selection and design\npackaging footprint reduction, and documentation\nmaintaining documentation for regulatory and customer audits\n\nPerks of working at Ashland:\nEligible for Annual Incentive Plan\nEligible for Ashland Way Awards\nReferral bonus plan - get a job with us and get paid to refer your friends\nSupporting work/life balance, this a Remote position based in the European Union\nEligible for country specific employee benefits\nIn more than 100 countries, the people of Ashland LLC.
