Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to work instructions.\nRole and responsibilities\nBuilds and validates mechanical assemblies in strict accordance with procedure.\nUses standardized tools and electric equipment (i.e., torque wrenches, electric and pneumatic screwdrivers and ball drivers) to perform mechanical assembly on opto-mechanical assemblies.\nEnters data into company databases. Audits data to ensure accuracy.\nExecutes simple standardized process inspections/tests throughout the production process.\nInterfaces with engineers to support special builds, and experiments with detailed instructions.\nCollaborates with peers and/or supervisors to resolve problems depending on the level and complexity.\nUses cleaning cloths with Acetone, Methanol, and Isopropyl alcohol to wipe surfaces prior to shipping product.\nPrepares completed assemblies for shipment.\nRecommends procedural improvements to management.\nFollows control measures and processes to ensure the quality of modules produced.\nIdentifies and documents discrepant material.\nMay provide guidance and/ or train other team members.\nIdentifies opportunities for continuous improvement.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nEducation and experience\nRequires a High School Diploma or equivalent.\nA minimum of 4 years of assembly experience preferred.\nExperience working with precision optical/electronic components is desirable.\nESD experience is desirable.\nExperience in using electronic, pneumatic, and hand tools preferred.\nSkills\nAbility to read and interpret data, information, documents and engineering drawings.\nAble to use electric/pneumatic tools.\nMust be able to follow written assembly procedures and bill of materials (BOM).\nAbility to perform in-process quality inspections of components and/or full assemblies within the Manufacturing area(s).\nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles preferred.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nRequires general computer skills and knowledge.\nCan learn and apply new information or skills.\nCan work under deadlines.\nOther information\nThis position is located on-site in San Diego, CA .
