You’ll make improvements to existing products and processes and guide the implementation of new products and processes. CNC Technicians ensure quality and standardization, while contributing to improvements in effectivity and efficiency.\nShift Hours: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday)\nRole & Responsibilities:\nMust be willing to work a compressed work week schedule- twelve-hour long shift and rotating from three to four days a week.\nResponsible for the set up and operation of 3/5-Axis CNC specialized optical machining centers. \nAssemble cutting tools into tool-holders and positions tool-holders in machine spindles and/or tool changer magazines as required. \nManually program CNC controllers through manual data input, and/or load CAM generated CNC programs. Generate part programs using Mastercam. \nManipulate machine controls to set up cutting tools and machine work pieces through CNC operation. \nMake tool changes and offsets to keep parts in spec and/or to compensate for tool wear. \nFollow written English work instructions that describe the process and the required measurements. \nRead and interpret ISO blueprints and incorporate them into part programs. \nMeasure workpiece for conformance to specifications. \nVerify settings by regularly measuring parts before and after changes are made. \nMaintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to supervisors and co-workers on other shifts. \nMaintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations and notifying supervisor of discrepancies. \nEffectively communicate one on one and in small groups to operators, management and engineers \nPrioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities \nTranslate requirements into an executable schedule\nEducation & Experience:\nHigh School, Trade School graduate or G.E.D required \nAssociate degree in machining from a vocational trade preferred. \nPrevious experience working in a manufacturing facility or completion of a vocational certification preferable. \nIntermediate mathematical skills including use of basic math, geometry and trigonometry \nIntermediate computer skills and familiarity with Windows 10, MS Office & SAP \nAt least 6 months of experience working with CNC machines and equipment used in optical fabrication \nFamiliarity with using the following measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gages. \nPrior DMG, Hurco & Siemens control experience a plus \nSkills:\nStrong analytical skills - capable of translating requirements into executable schedule \nCross train and support cross functional groups. \nSelf-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities \nStrong ability to work safely on fragile, high value optics \nWork independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision. \nStrong customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction through prioritization, quality, efficiency and professionalism. \nDemonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication. \nProven ability to identify bottlenecks and drive improvements \nOther information:\nMay also be exposed to laser energy, magnetic fields and open flames \nRoutinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus. \nMay require travel dependent on business needs. \nMust be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves for entire duration of shift. \nThe employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. \nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. \nMust be comfortable working around lasers, working with ladders, working on platforms, and working around chemicals. \nMust be able to work in a moderate to high noise level environment in a temperature-controlled environment \nMust be comfortable operating/working around overhead cranes, fork trucks and motorized pallet movers. \nRegularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, solvents, polishing slurry, and tooling. \n\nThe current base annual salary range for this role is currently: $41,275 - $69,850\nYou must be work authorized in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship\nThis position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.).
