In this Information Science | Document Governance internship, you will contribute to the development of a policy-driven document governance framework for manufacturing documentation. This internship addresses a real business challenge in a global high-tech environment where effective information governance supports knowledge sharing and future digital innovations.\nYour assignment\nDuring this internship, you will help assess the current document management landscape and design a future-state governance framework for manufacturing documentation. You will explore governance models, information classification approaches, compliance requirements, and document lifecycle management practices. The assignment combines academic research with practical application, allowing you to translate governance theory into scalable business solutions. Your main responsibilities will be:\nAnalyze the current document management and governance environment.\nAssess existing document classification, access control, and retention practices.\nResearch governance framework models and industry best practices.\nIdentify gaps and improvement opportunities within current governance structures.\nDesign a policy-driven document governance framework.\nDevelop a future-state information classification and authorization model.\nPresent findings, recommendations, and business value to stakeholders.\nThis is a bachelor or master thesis internship for minimum 5 months, minimum 4 days per week (2 days on-site). The start date of this internship is as of January / February 2027.\nYour profile\nTo be suitable for the internship, you:\nAre pursuing a bachelor's degree or master's degree in information studies, information science, knowledge management, records management, information governance, library and information science, business information management, or a related field.\nHave knowledge of information governance, records management, document management, or enterprise content management.\nHave an analytical mindset and enjoy investigating complex information challenges.\nCan translate theoretical frameworks into practical and scalable solutions.\nCommunicate clearly and collaborate effectively with different stakeholders.\nShow a proactive approach to research, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.\nThis position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
