The mission of the Mechanical Development department is to design and develop the complex mechanics for these machines, which are some of the highest precision products ever produced in the world. This position is based on-site in Wilton, CT, which has both R&D and manufacturing operations. We design and produce multiple sub-system modules that are shipped to our headquarters in Veldhoven, The Netherlands where they are integrated into the full lithography machine.\nRole and responsibilities\nAs a Summer Intern, you will work along side Senior Engineers and assist in day to day duties such as CAD, analysis, and testing.\nThis position is located on-site in Wilton, CT. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation. Must be available for 12 weeks for one of these sessions starting with the following dates: 6/2/2027 or 6/14/2027.\nRoles and Responsibilities\nHelp developing mechanical concepts, precision motion solutions, structural architectures, and subsystem designs that meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, cost, and schedule objectives.\nAssist with engineering analyses, including tolerance stack-ups and structural analyses\nSupport design qualification activities\nSupport root-cause analysis and structured problem solving for technical issues using data-driven methods\nEducation & Experience\nMinimum 2 years in college (Design related)\nExperience with CAD\nExperience with designing, manufacturing and building components / assembles\nExperience with additive and subtractive machining\nSkills\nTechnical & Functional Skills\nUnderstanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles, including forces and moments, load paths, stress and strain, stiffness, statics, and dynamics.\nAbility to test innovative engineering concepts and convert them into manufacturable designs.\nAbility to define and execute qualification strategies, validation plans, and performance testing to support product release readiness.\nTechnical problem-solving skills using structured methods such as 8D, Fishbone, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA).\nAbility to interpret experimental data, identify trends, and make sound engineering decisions under uncertainty.\nAnalytical and presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.\nBehavioral & Leadership Skills\nAbility to understand personal strengths and development areas, actively seek feedback, adapt behaviors, and continuously improve technical and leadership effectiveness.\nCommunicates clearly, concisely, and professionally through technical documentation, presentations, and reviews.\nMaintains strong focus on customer value, product quality, reliability, serviceability, and operational excellence.\nOther\nThis position is located on-site and requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, laboratories, manufacturing teams, and cleanroom operations.\nAbility to work effectively in laboratory, integration, manufacturing, and cleanroom environments.\nCommitment to maintaining the highest standards of product quality, safety, and engineering rigor.\nThe current base hourly range for this role is currently:\n$18.00 to $48.00 per hour\nPay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data.
