Your work will support the optical sensing solutions that enable precise wafer positioning and measurement, helping chipmakers produce faster, smaller, and more energy-efficient microchips.\nAt ASML in Wilton, Connecticut, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, build, test, and improve sophisticated optical sensor systems. As an Optical Sensor Engineer, you will contribute directly to technology that powers innovation across consumer electronics, healthcare, automotive, and communications industries.\nRole and Responsibilities\nAs an Optical Sensor Engineer, you will work on the development and performance of advanced optical sensing technologies used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. You will combine optics, physics, data analysis, and hands-on experimentation to solve challenging technical problems and improve system performance.\nDesign and develop optical sensor systems that integrate light sources, detectors, optical components, electronics, and software.\nBuild, align, test, and troubleshoot optical and photonic systems in laboratory environments.\nAnalyze experimental and system performance data to identify issues and improve sensor functionality.\nDevelop and execute test plans to investigate technical problems and determine root causes.\nImplement and refine data analysis tools using MATLAB and Python.\nCollaborate with engineers across optics, software, electronics, and system integration disciplines.\nCommunicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in physics, optics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field, plus 2 or more years of relevant experience.\nMaster’s degree in physics, optics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.\nDoctoral degree in physics, optics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.\nPreferred experience includes:\nExperience with data analysis, signal processing, or scientific software development.\nHands-on experience with optical system alignment, imaging systems, detectors, or photonic technologies.\nExperience using MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, or similar engineering tools.\nExperience conducting laboratory testing and interpreting experimental results.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills in English.\nSkills\nWorking at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve - and working together is the only way to do that.
