Job Description

Purpose of Role

The High School English Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English Language and Literature instruction for students in grades 9-12 under the CBSE and IGCSE curricula. The teacher should promote strong communication skills, critical thinking, literary appreciation, and exam preparedness.

Teacher - English- Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engagingEnglishlanguage lessons (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
• Strong command of advanced grammar structures (clauses, parallelism, modifiers, tenses, conditionals).
• Ability to teach close reading and annotation techniques
• High-level skills in literary analysis
• Capability to teach various literary theories
• Skilled in teaching discursive, argumentative, expository, and narrative writing
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, and assessments as per curriculum.
• Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
• Support and mentor students with learning gaps or special needs.
• Promoteliterature and heritage through activities and events.
• Organize and guide students in debates, recitations, drama, and cultural programs.
• Collaborate with teachers, coordinators, and parents for integrated learning.
• Participate in training, workshops, and staff meetings for professional growth.
• Maintain student records, discipline, and adherence to school policies.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree inEnglish,B.Ed.(Preferred)
• Strongconceptual understanding.
• Good communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to design engaging lesson plans and creative teaching aids.
• Patience, empathy, and ability to handle diverse learners.
• Collaborative mindset to work with peers, coordinators, and parents.
• Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office, digital tools for teaching).
• Prior teaching experienceof4to8yrsat school level preferred.
• Teaching experience in ASand A level preferred.
