The successful candidate will serve as the first point of contact for NAV-related incidents and service requests, while also taking ownership of system configuration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nThis role requires strong NAV technical knowledge, familiarity with its underlying database (SQL Server), and the ability to work closely with both end-users and developers to resolve issues, streamline processes, and contribute to system enhancements.\nThis is a hybrid role which will involve attendance at the office in Fernhurst. \nKey Responsibilities\nProvide 1st and 2nd line support for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 across all functional areas (Finance, Warehousing, Sales, Purchasing, and Inventory).\nInvestigate, diagnose, and resolve user issues, including:\nPosting errors, dimension conflicts, and general ledger reconciliation issues.\nSales order, purchase order, and warehouse process failures.\nPermission set and role-based access issues.\nPerform basic NAV configuration and setup, such as:\nChart of Accounts, posting groups, VAT setup.\nItem categories, inventory costing methods, and warehouse locations.\nUser roles, permission sets, and security filters.\nWork directly with the SQL Server back-endto investigate data integrity issues, run queries, and support reporting requirements.\n\nMaintain and troubleshoot C/AL customisations within NAV 2017 (with a view to exposure to AL in future Business Central upgrades).\nCollaborate with external partners and 3rd line developers on escalated issues and system enhancements.\nSupport data migrations, upgrades, and testing during system projects.\nProduce and maintain documentation, including functional specifications, user guides, and knowledge base articles.\nProvide user training and best practice guidance across business teams.\nTechnical Skills & Competencies\nRequired:\n5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (ideally NAV 2017, but earlier versions acceptable).\nStrong knowledge of core NAV modules: Finance, Sales & Marketing, Purchase, Inventory, and Warehouse.\nProficiency with C/AL development languagefor NAV 2017 (basic code review, debugging, and modifications).\n\nSolid experience with Microsoft SQL Server: writing queries, investigating data issues, and supporting SSRS/Jet/Power BI reporting.\nGood understanding of NAV permissions and security model (roles, permission sets, security filters).\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot NAV-specific errors (posting issues, table locks, item ledger entries, dimension conflicts, etc.).\nStrong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.\nDesirable:\nExperience working with Jet Reports, SSRS, or Power BI for NAV reporting.\nFamiliarity with integration tools/APIsfor connecting NAV to third-party systems (EDI, eCommerce platforms, etc.).\n\nExposure to Business Central (AL development) as a future upgrade path.\nITIL awareness for structured incident and problem management.\nDevelopment Path\nWhile this role is focused on NAV 2017 support and optimisation, the successful candidate will also be supported to expand into:\nAdvanced C/AL development and transition to AL for Business Central.\nSpecialisation in finance or supply chain modules.\nInvolved in NAV upgrade and migration projects.\nBecoming a key subject-matter expert (SME) and internal trainer for Dynamics NAV/BC.\nQualifications\nDegree in IT, Computer Science, Business Systems, or equivalent practical experience.\nMicrosoft Dynamics NAV certification (advantageous but not mandatory).\nSQL Server/Database Administration certification (advantageous).\nExperience working on a helpdesk \nWhat Aspinal
