Aspire has health centers throughout Central Indiana serving Hoosiers of all ages and walks of life.\nPosition Summary\nThe Controller is a senior financial leader responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity of Aspire Indiana Health through effective accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and financial governance.\nThe Controller oversees the organization’s accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, financial close, financial reporting, audit preparation, reconciliations, fixed assets, and other assigned financial operations. The position establishes and maintains effective financial controls and ensures accounting practices are consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.\nThe Controller also provides financial oversight and independent review of payroll prior to final processing. Payroll administration remains within Team People, and the Payroll Coordinator does not report to the Controller. The Controller’s payroll responsibility is focused on financial accuracy, reconciliation, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and final financial review.\nThe Controller reports to the SVP of Finance and maintains a functional partnership with the Chief People Officer specifically for payroll governance and pre-processing review.\nEducation/Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university required.\nMinimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience required.\nDemonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, financial close, and audit preparation required.\nDemonstrated knowledge of GAAP and applicable financial accounting standards required.\nExperience reviewing payroll from an accounting, reconciliation, compliance, or financial-control perspective required.\nDemonstrated ability to identify financial discrepancies, evaluate risk, and implement effective internal controls.\nExperience working collaboratively across functional areas.\nHealthcare and/or nonprofit accounting experience preferred.\nExperience in a complex, multi-site, or highly regulated organization preferred.\nExperience with payroll accounting, payroll tax reconciliation, and payroll-related audits preferred.\nExperience with integrated financial, payroll, HRIS, and timekeeping systems preferred.\nLicensure\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant professional accounting certification preferred but not required. \nBenefits\nAspire prioritizes a work culture that takes care of employees not only at work but in their personal lives as well.
