This role combines advanced technical expertise, leadership, and project coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of substation work across a wide range of electrical equipment and systems.\nResponsibilities\nSafety & Leadership\nAdhere to and enforce all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.\nLead daily job site safety briefings, proactively identifying, eliminating, and mitigating hazards.\nChampion a strong safety culture, holding team members accountable and promoting continuous improvement through incident reviews and lessons learned.\nUtilize Human Performance Error Reduction (HPE) tools and principles to minimize risk and enhance operational reliability.\nTechnical Execution & Expertise\nLead crews in the testing, inspection, maintenance, and commissioning of high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment.\nInstall, test, and maintain electrical apparatus including circuit breakers (SF6, vacuum, LV), transformers (GSU and pad-mounted), instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.\nPerform and lead complex troubleshooting of electrical and control systems, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.\nAnalyze test results using a strong understanding of electrical theory to validate system performance and identify deficiencies.\nConsult schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and engineering resources to optimize equipment functionality and resolve issues.\nDirect repair, replacement, and maintenance activities to ensure reliable restoration of equipment and systems.\nPlanning, Reporting & Project Oversight\nDevelop testing plans, procedures, and work scopes for electrical apparatus and commissioning activities.\nPrepare, review, and approve detailed reports documenting testing, maintenance, repairs, and system performance.\nCreate and manage project documentation including test reports, discrepancy lists, and closure packages.\nLead execution of large-scale and complex projects, coordinating field activities to meet schedule, quality, and safety requirements.\nSupport project planning, resource coordination, and work sequencing to optimize field efficiency.\nTeam Development & Coordination\nTrain, mentor, and qualify Field Technician I, II, and III personnel, ensuring development of technical skills and safe work practices.\nProvide technical leadership and guidance to field crews, reinforcing standards and best practices.\nCoordinate daily activities with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.\nCustomer & Business Interface\nServe as a primary field point of contact for customers, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring expectations are met.\nMaintain professional relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams.\nRepresent the company in the field by delivering high-quality work and technical expertise.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Skills/Abilities:\nAble to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to this being a safety sensitive position.\n\nComplete a satisfactory criminal background check. \nAble to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time. \nMust have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record. \nPreferred Skills/Abilities:\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills. \nExperience with the following test equipment:Power Factor \nDuctor \nMegger \nCT ration & saturation \nHi-Pot \n\nKnowledge of the following equipment:\nCircuit Breakers \nLow Voltage, Medium Voltage, High Voltage | LV/MV/HV \nTransformers \nSwitchgear \nMotors \nPT's & CCVT's \n\nEducation and Experience:\nBachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology, or Military experience preferred \n10+ Years Relevant Industry Experience \nNETA III Certified, NETA
