This position also releases final product for manufacture and distribution. I. Description of Essential Job Functions:\nManages projects, changes, and/or development from start through completion while communicating, supporting, and interacting with other functional groups.\nPlans, designs, and develops products or components in projects assigned. Prepares or directs preparation of the project/system layout, detailed drawings and schematics. Plans and develops experimental test products. Directs and coordinates manufacturing or building of prototype product or system by Model Shop employees. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.\nGathers and analyzes research data and proposed product specifications. Determines feasibility of product proposal/specifications. Consults with research personnel, sales, and principal engineer to clarify or resolve issues and develop design. Conducts business case analysis and planning to effectively commercialize new products.\nReviews and analyzes series production of new products to ensure the highest quality standards and lowest cost levels are met.\nUses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.\nConsults with research and other engineering personnel and prepare design modifications as required. Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses.\nConsults with suppliers in relation to parts or products necessary to design or improve products and components.\nProvides design, prototype, and validation support for improving existing product.\nOversees installation and testing of field test units at customer sites. Routinely contacts these customers for feedback on test units. Inspects, maintains and, if necessary, troubleshoots and repairs field test units.\nCreates product documentation including manuals, architectural surveys, and layout drawings to support new products. Updates product manuals, as necessary, to stay current with product and component changes.\nSits on AMCA (Air Movement and Control Association) International committees (for positions requiring engineering of HVLS Fans) to ensure product meets regulations and drive new regulations.\nVisits new and established suppliers looking for advances in new technology, status of existing product, opportunities for cost saving, current capabilities. and supporting root cause analysis.\nMonitors and analyzes the technology markets, customer feedback, and benchmarking to identify and understand new product opportunities. Education and Experience:\nBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master’s Degree a plus.\n5-8+ years of engineering experience, preferably in product design engineering duties with a strong work background within a manufacturing environment.\n1-3+ years’ experience in HVAC or airflow experience for HVLS Fans engineering positions.\nExperience managing multiple simultaneous projects.\nAdvanced/Intermediate experience with industry drafting and CAD standards.\nExperience in product design, GD&T using CATIA CAD tools, and DFMEA.\nSignificant “hands on the product” type experience with ability to recognize problems, predict potential outcomes, and implement countermeasures quickly enough to avoid problems. Computer Skills\nAbility to use a personal computer utilizing spreadsheet and word processing software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.\nAdvanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.\nWorking knowledge of and ability to use 3D and 2D CAD.
