Similarly, those near our co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.\n Position Summary\nWe are looking for a quality-first Software Developer in Test (SDET) who brings a strong QA Analyst mindset to software delivery.\nThis role goes beyond writing automated tests. You will act as a bridge between Product and Engineering - deeply understanding what and why we are building before engineering how to validate it. You are analytical, user-focused, and risk-aware, using automation as a powerful enabler of quality - not the only tool in your toolbox.\nIf you enjoy asking the right questions, thinking critically about business impact, and building scalable test solutions that protect customer value, this role is for you.\nWhat you will do\nOwn Quality Through Analysis\n\nCollaborate early with Product, Development, and Data teams during discovery and refinement.\n\nReview and challenge requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure they are testable, complete, and reflect real customer journeys.\n\nIdentify risks, edge cases, and coverage gaps before they become production issues.\n\nLead exploratory testing and business-flow simulations in complex or ambiguous areas.\n\nTranslate business requirements into meaningful test strategies and risk assessments.\n\nTranslate business requirements into meaningful test strategies and risk assessments.\n\nEngineer Robust Automation\n\nDesign and implement automated tests across API, UI, performance, and end-to-end layers.\n\nDevelop automated coverage using tools such as C#, Playwright, NBomber, and JMeter.\n\nWork closely with developers to strengthen test coverage in the upper layers of the test pyramid.\n\nContribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and automation environment setup.\n\nMaintain meaningful test metrics focused on escapes, performance, and coverage trends.\n\nDrive Defect Prevention & Release Confidence\n\nPerform triage and root cause analysis for test failures and production defects.\n\nPartner with Support and Engineering to prevent repeat issues.\n\nLead reviews of test results and outstanding risks to assess release readiness.\n\nMaintain traceability and test evidence aligned with ISO9001 and SOC2 standards.\n\n Your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nWe strongly value your talent, energy and passion. It will also be valuable to Assent if you have the following qualifications,\n3+ years of experience in software testing or development with strong automation experience.\n\nExperience writing automated API and UI tests (C#, Playwright, or similar tools).\n\nExperience with performance testing tools such as NBomber or JMeter.\n\nStrong understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodologies and test lifecycle practices.\n\nExperience testing SaaS web applications across multiple browser platforms.\n\nFamiliarity with monitoring/log analysis tools (ElasticStack, DataDog, New Relic, etc.).\n\nStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to review and challenge requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure they are testable, complete, and reflect real customer journeys and business outcomes.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English.\n\nA proactive, user-centric approach to quality.\n\nNice to Have\nExperience working with AWS environments.\n\nKnowledge of data architecture patterns (e.g., medallion architecture).\n\nTechnology Environment\nOur Automated Testing team works within a modern, cloud-native platform environment.
