This senior role involves owning significant platform capabilities, driving architectural decisions, and establishing technical standards that enable our entire engineering organization. You'll work on transformational platform initiatives while mentoring other engineers and ensuring our technology foundation scales with business growth.\nWe can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.\nKey Responsibilities:\nPlatform Architecture & Design:\nDesign and implement mission-critical platform features and foundational systems\nShape platform architecture through both written specifications and hands-on code implementation\nBuild and maintain frameworks that make software development easier for application teams\nDrive AssetMark towards target platform architecture through strategic technical decisions\nAuthor technical design documents for complex platform capabilities\nAdvanced Platform Development:\nCreate enterprise-scale solutions for data management, API governance, and service integration\nImplement large-scale refactoring initiatives to improve platform code quality and performance\nBuild canonical source-of-truth data systems with robust governance and compliance capabilities\nDesign and implement standardized patterns for service integration and cross-application workflows\nEstablish and enforce API design principles, versioning strategies, and governance models\nTechnical Leadership & Standards:\nImprove platform development practices and processes across multiple teams\nTeach other engineers effective platform development and code review techniques\nHelp establish platform community practices around secure coding, data privacy, and design standards\nBalance technical debt with platform evolution while maintaining enterprise reliability\nCoordinate platform work across multiple development teams and resolve complex technical dependencies\nEnterprise & Compliance:\nEnsure platform architecture meets stringent security, compliance, and regulatory requirements\nDesign systems that support business growth and can scale to enterprise demands\nWork with data governance policies and master data management principles\nSupport technology modernization initiatives and legacy system transformation\nCollaborate with enterprise architecture and security teams on strategic platform decisions\nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities\nDeep expertise in platform engineering, API design, and service-oriented architectures\nAdvanced understanding of cloud-native development, microservices, and distributed systems\nStrong background in data architecture, enterprise integration patterns, and event-driven systems\nExperience with performance optimization, scalability engineering, and system reliability\nKnowledge of DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and modern deployment practices\nUnderstanding of enterprise security, compliance, and regulatory requirements\nProven ability to drive architectural decisions and influence technical direction\nStrong mentorship skills and experience leading complex technical initiatives\nQualifications & Experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field\n10+ years of software engineering experience with significant platform engineering focus\nProven experience coding in Java is required\nExperience designing and implementing enterprise-scale platform systems\nTrack record of leading complex technical initiatives and mentoring other engineers\nExperience with regulated industries, preferably financial services\nStrong background in API governance, data architecture, and enterprise integration\nWhy Join AssetMark?\nLead development of foundational platform capabilities that power the entire AssetMark ecosystem\nDrive architectural decisions that shape the future of wealth management technology infrastructure\nWork on transformational initiatives in a growth-oriented, private equity-backed environment\nMentor engineering talent and establish technical standards across the organization\nSignificant impact on technology strategy and platform evolution in the fintech space\nAssetMark values diversity of thought and background and is committed to building an inclusive workplace. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.\nCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered.
