The position will establish, execute and deliver specific strategy that supports AWG's overall EHS objectives, including crisis preparedness. The position will also be overseeing food safety processes, audits, corrective actions, training and keeping the organization informed of current food safety issues.\nSAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:\nIn cooperation with Distribution management, develop EHS strategy in support of Corporate EHS strategic goals.\nDevelop effective EHS plans designed to meet operational goals to reduce injuries, accidents, incidents, severity and cost.\nEffectively communicate EHS strategy and objectives with Senior Leadership.\nSupport site management in the implementation of EHS plans.\nDesign and implement effective metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern and drive accountability.\nDevelop and implement training programs to transfer EHS knowledge and core competencies to management and associates.\nDevelop and implement audits to track and identify gaps in local compliance policies and procedures.\nSupport creation of EHS goals for the site management and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team to drive EHS culture, compliance and results.\nLead a system to identify and evaluate hazards (risks), and implement effective controls (corrective solutions).\nLead incident investigation process, including cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.\nProvide supervisor and management training on root cause analysis.\nInterface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, DOT, EPA, and State/Local Regulators).\nFacilitate the completion of a company-wide annual EHS training plan.\nDevelop effective interdepartmental relationships.\nAssist facilities management team in ensuring required regulatory permits are acquired, required reports are submitted to regulatory agencies and any site permit conditions (e.g. recordkeeping, PSM, storm water, special waste, etc.) are met.\nDisplay strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.\nDemonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader.\nCreate and facilitate EHS engagement through safety committees needed to accomplish the established targets and annual objectives.\nDrive and promote zero incident EHS culture throughout the company.\nSupport execution of AWG's Emergency Preparedness Plan procedures and policies.\nMonitor, interpret and communicate regulatory changes to management.\nAssist with the development and presentation of Corporate and site-specific training programs as needed\nImplement early return to work programs.\nInterprets, trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures.\nMaintains associate relations through regular department meetings, maintains on-going interaction and communication, monitors associate morale, and responds to and implements ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement.\nWorkers Comp claims.\nFOOD SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:\n* Periodically review all food safety procedures and instructions, to ensure they remain current and that the organization remains in compliance with government agencies.\n* Manage the Food Safety Team and ensure that processes needed for the warehouse are established, implemented, and maintained.\n* Report to the Director of Distribution and top management on the performance of the Food Safety Program and any need for improvement.\n* Ensure the promotion of awareness pertaining to food safety throughout the organization.\n* Assemble Food Safety Team, as needed.\n* Oversee, perform and track the internal food safety audit program -- select internal audit personnel, conduct internal audits, review results of food safety audits, ensure that corrective actions are understood, and ensure corrective actions takes place.\n* Collect, analyze, and report data, to determine the root cause of food safety problems and recommend action to resolve those problems.\n* Conduct and supervise hazard analyses, report results of analyses to top management, and periodically review food safety-related processes to ensure hazards are accounted for and controlled.\n* Compile reports regarding inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies.\n* Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures, and policies.\nREQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:\nBachelor's Degree strongly preferred\nFive or more years hands on environmental and safety experience in a warehousing, manufacturing or transportation environment\nFive or more years hands on food safety experience in a food warehouse, manufacturing or processing environment\nConsiderable experience with occupational safety, transportation safety, food safety and environmental compliance is preferred\nComprehensive knowledge in HACCP and GMPs\nUnderstanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices including those from FDA, USDA and other state/provincial/ local entities\nCERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nHas attained or is working toward certification in safety (CSP) and food safety\nHas attained or is working toward HACCP certification.\nOther pertinent safety certification or designations are desirable as well\nABILITIES AND SKILLS:\nStrong background in safety with a proven record of results\nThe ability to drive a strong safety philosophy and implement constructive behavior changes in safety\nExcellent analytical skills\nExcellent employee relations and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, supervision and employees\nDemonstrate excellent verbal communication, written communication, and presentation skills\nLeadership and team building skills, able to influence decision makers\nDemonstrated knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software, and the ability to learn LMS/WMS software and programs\nEffectively using time and resources to accomplish overall initiatives and program goals\nThe ability to analyze and independently
