The position requires creativity and out-of-the-box thinking to design and develop innovative ideas, resolve technical challenges and support equipment upgrades.\nThe Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing efficient solutions for the design & development of cable handling equipment - ranging from small components to large structures - used in the company’s offshore cable installation and protection projects. The role also includes performing engineering analyses using finite element methods (FEM) with specialized software, supporting continuous asset improvement, innovation, and the delivery of current and future project requirements.\nThe position involves research and development at concept level for future company endeavors, covering the full lifecycle from design and engineering through manufacturing, final commissioning, maintenance, and modification-working both as part of a project team and independently as required.\nResponsibilities\nCarry out detailed design and engineering work, including 3D modelling, as required.\nPerform design validation and verification, including analyses and tests as needed (load analysis, stress analysis using hand calculations or finite element analysis, part & assembly tolerance analysis, and functional / environmental / static load assessments).\nAssist in the design, development and evaluation of new and existing marine equipment.\nPrepare Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and plans.\nCreate technical reports and documentation required for Company projects.\nAssist in the evaluation and troubleshooting of vessels and deck equipment.\nStudy and determine forces and moments for use in strength assessments via finite element methods (FEM), supporting material selection, thickness, geometry and related construction decisions.\nPerform studies for the installation of cable or marine equipment on vessels, including FEA analysis and structural reinforcement drawings.\nRequirements\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Naval Architecture, or a closely related field, together with advanced training in mechanical design (university, technical/trade school, or substantial equivalent on-the-job experience).\nMinimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical design and FEA analysis.\nExperience in marine equipment, offshore, shipbuilding, heavy structural design or related industries is highly desirable.\nExcellent knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk AutoCAD, and ANSYS Suite (or equivalent FEA software).\nSolid understanding of core engineering concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics and materials science.\nGood understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.\nKnowledge of Rhino is considered an advantage.\nKnowledge of animation tools (3ds Max or similar) is considered an advantage.\nProficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.\nClear and effective oral and written communication skills in both Greek and English.\nBenefits\n Fast-paced environment\n Private medical insurance\n Company Bus from central points\n Specialization in a niche market\n Competitive compensation\n Continuous development opportunities\n This job description is intended to convey information essential to understand the scope of the job and the general nature and level of work performed by job holders within this job.
