In addition, certifications that endorse our company as a great place to work.\n Responsibilities\n\nTechnical Ownership & Leadership\n\nTake end-to-end technical ownership of significant backend systems, features, and integrations.\nTranslate ambiguous business requirements into well-designed, scalable technical solutions.\nLead technical design discussions and make or influence decisions involving architecture, frameworks, APIs, data models, performance, and implementation approaches.\nIdentify technical risks early and proactively propose solutions.\nBalance short-term delivery requirements with long-term maintainability and platform architecture.\nTake accountability for the quality, reliability, and successful delivery of owned solutions.\n\nMentorship & Engineering Excellence\n\nMentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.\nConduct meaningful code reviews that improve both code quality and engineering capability.\nPromote clean code, appropriate design patterns, testing, documentation, and engineering best practices.\nHelp engineers reason through complex technical problems rather than simply providing answers.\nRaise engineering standards across the team through knowledge sharing and technical leadership.\n\nBackend Engineering\n\nDesign and implement scalable, secure, maintainable, and high-performance backend applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem.\nDesign and maintain REST APIs and integrations with internal and third-party systems.\nBuild and evolve microservices and distributed backend systems.\nDesign appropriate database structures and optimize queries for performance and scalability.\nTroubleshoot complex production problems and drive root-cause analysis through permanent resolution.\nIdentify performance bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.\nWrite automated tests and maintain high standards for code quality.\n\nBusiness & Stakeholder Collaboration\n\nWork directly with product, business, engineering, and technical leadership to understand business goals.\nAsk the right questions to uncover the actual problem behind a request.\nRecommend technical solutions rather than simply implementing requested specifications.\nClearly communicate architecture decisions, technical constraints, risks, and tradeoffs.\nBuild trust with stakeholders through ownership, follow-through, and sound engineering judgment.\n\nAI-Enabled Engineering\n\nEffectively use modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation, analysis, debugging, testing, and refactoring.\nCritically review AI-generated code rather than accepting generated solutions without engineering validation.\nIdentify opportunities where AI-enabled workflows can improve engineering productivity while maintaining code quality.\n\nRequirements\n\n7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial hands-on backend development experience.\nAdvanced Java knowledge, including strong understanding of core Java, object-oriented programming, concurrency, collections, exception handling, and application performance.\nStrong hands-on experience with Spring / Spring Boot.\nDemonstrated experience designing and building microservices and distributed backend systems.\nStrong experience designing and maintaining REST APIs and third-party integrations.\nStrong relational database knowledge, including schema design, SQL, query optimization, and performance considerations. MySQL experience is preferred.\nExperience with ORM technologies such as JPA/Hibernate or equivalent.\nExperience with Git and modern software development practices.\nExperience with automated testing and code-quality practices.\nStrong hands-on experience AI Code assistants like Claude Code and Codex.\nExperience working in Agile development environments.\nPractical cloud experience, preferably AWS.\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting, production-support, and root-cause-analysis capabilities.\nPersonally owning a complex project, system, or major feature from definition through delivery.\nMaking or driving significant technical or architectural decisions.\nImproving another engineer's technical capability through mentorship or feedback.\nHandling ambiguous requirements and independently determining how to move forward.\nWorking directly with business or product stakeholders to shape a technical solution.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience building or operating high-volume transactional systems.\nExperience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, asynchronous processing, or high-volume data pipelines.\nExperience with e-commerce, order management, inventory, logistics, payments, or shipping integrations.\nExperience with additional API technologies such as SOAP, GraphQL, or gRPC.\nExperience with SAP Commerce (Hybris) is beneficial but not required.\nExperience working across web and mobile platform ecosystems.\nExperience designing systems for high availability, resilience, and scalability.\nExperience with observability, monitoring, and production performance analysis.\n\n#LI-REMOTE\n\nAbout us\nAssureSoft is a multinational software development and information technology company providing strategic consulting, technology services, and outsourcing business processes.
