The Group is currently ranked second in the world for nuclear engineering.\nTo ensure a viable, efficient, and reliable energy future for all\n The Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) is being constructed on the Sellafield Limited (SL) site in Cumbria. The project is an integral part of the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo (MSSS) Program addressing the cleanup of one of the most hazardous legacy facilities on the SL site. When complete, the BEP is expected to treat nuclear waste recovered from MSSS, immobilize it, and prepare it for long-term storage. In addition, the BEP may also process waste recovered during the decommissioning of other significant SL facilities including the First General Magnox Storage Pond and the Pile Fuel Storage Pond.\nThe candidate that we are looking to recruit should have a minimum of 10 years’ Nuclear experience. The candidate should have experience of working within a regulated and quality assured system (preferably nuclear) in roles reliant upon pragmatic design judgement and where engineering was a major part of the role.\nProject Specific Requirements\nReport to SL CSA RE on a daily basis\nProvide leadership, guidance and support to JV CSA design and site engineering team\nBe prepared to visit the Warrington office min 3 days week and Sellafield site on regular basis (ideally fortnightly) to confidently interact and engage with the multi discipline JV construction team and their subcontractors as required.\nCheck and comment on CSA JV Design submissions during development including site modifications, complete NFR documents and submit to SL Doc Control.\nReview, Check and Accept or Reject design submissions, sign and submit PMACD to SL Doc Control.\nReview Check and Accept or Reject TQ/PP submissions,\nReview the progress of all Structural detail design drawings, calculations and documents to ‘As Built’ status by the JV CS&A designers.\nGeneral understanding of service supports and blockwork wall substantiation.\nGeneral understanding of fire strategy arrangements preferred. Understanding of fire rated service hanger supports. Attend meetings with Fire Consultants to review Conventional and Nuclear fire issues.\nInterface with multi discipline design team on project issues. Liase with SL Capability as required to substantiate site issues encountered during construction.\nSupport to Safety case work including DJR’s.\nExternal Works\nGood design understanding of external works, inc concrete slabs, SW drainage standard details etc\nReview and comment on all interfaces between the external works and the building external envelope. As the construction progresses.\nRegular engagement with the JV construction team and supply chain on site. Attend weekly meetings as required\nAttendance of weekly Risk review meetings and support EWN’s.\nSite Visits\nGenerally, visit site weekly (minimum bi-weekly) for the day.\nLiaise with the site construction team, conduct or take part in site walkdowns to oversee, discuss and resolve any CS&A related site construction issues.\nLiase and interface with SL Site Utilities and Infrastructure Capability to gain buy in to the contractor proposals prior to construction where applicable.\n Qualifications and experience \nCivil / Structural Engineering Degree, or equivalent.\nChartered Engineer (CEng) (MICE or MIStructE)\nExpertise demonstrable in major projects areas relevant to the engineering discipline with a track record of successful application of specialist knowledge or skills.\nAbility to provide strategic guidance based on knowledge and experience of projects across a portfolio to inform and direct projects and programmes.\nAbility to provide leadership within an engineering function.\nExperience of working within the Nuclear Sector, new build and decommissioning projects, in roles reliant upon professional engineering expertise and judgement.\nUnderstanding of design principles and ability to apply them.\nHave a working knowledge of British Standards.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nFull UK driving licence or equivalent that permits driving in the UK.\nAble to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK.\n**Security clearance**\nThis role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a BPSS clearance without any caveats to that clearance.\nNOTICE TO CANDIDATES ON RECRUITMENT FRAUD - We are committed to safeguarding candidates from fraudulent activity associated with our recruitment process.
