The role supports effective decision-making by providing accurate planning data, schedule analysis, and risk-informed forecasts aligned with defence governance and assurance requirements.\nWorking closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Commercial, and Risk teams, the Senior Planner ensures that programme schedules reflect scope, cost, risk, and resource constraints, and comply with contractual and regulatory standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nPlanning & Scheduling\nDevelop and maintain integrated, resource- and cost-loaded schedules across the full project lifecycle (design, manufacture, test, acceptance, and in-service support).\n\nEstablish planning structures aligned to WBS, CBS, and contract deliverables.\n\nEnsure schedules comply with defence and organisational planning standards and best practice.\n\nProgramme Control & Reporting\nProvide schedule performance analysis including critical path, float, dependencies, and milestones.\n\nSupport Earned Value Management (EVM) and schedule health assessments.\n\nProduce clear, accurate planning reports for internal governance, senior stakeholders, and external customers.\n\nRisk & Change Management\nIntegrate risk, opportunity, and mitigation actions into project schedules.\n\nSupport schedule risk analysis (e.g. Monte Carlo) where required.\n\nAssess schedule impacts of change requests and support change control processes.\n\nStakeholder Collaboration\nWork closely with Project Managers to support delivery planning and decision-making.\n\nLiaise with engineering, supply chain, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure schedule realism.\n\nProvide planning input to bids, proposals, and contract negotiations as required.\n\nAssurance & Continuous Improvement\nSupport internal and external assurance reviews, audits, and readiness assessments.\n\nMentor junior planners and promote planning best practice.\n\nContribute to the continuous improvement of planning processes, tools, and standards.\n\nSkills & Experience\nEssential\nSignificant experience in project planning within defence, aerospace, engineering, or complex regulated environments.\n\nStrong proficiency in planning tools such as Primavera P6 (essential)\n\nBritish National\n\nExperience producing and maintaining integrated master schedules.\n\nSolid understanding of critical path analysis, schedule logic, and performance measurement.\n\nAbility to communicate complex planning information clearly to non-planning stakeholders.\n\nDesirable\nExperience working with MOD or equivalent defence customers.\n\nKnowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).\n\nExperience supporting bids or major programme re-baselining.\n\nFamiliarity with risk and schedule risk analysis techniques.\n\nProfessional accreditation (e.g. APM, PMI) or working towards it.\n\nBehaviours & Attributes\nAnalytical and detail-oriented with a proactive mindset.\n\nConfident working in complex, high-assurance environments.\n\nStrong stakeholder management and influencing skills.\n\nAble to work independently while supporting wider programme objectives.\n\nCommitted to integrity, confidentiality, and compliance.\n\n Benefits include:\nPension scheme (8% company contribution / 4% personal contribution)\n25 days’ paid annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy or sell days\nProfessional fees reimbursed\nFlexible working\nEmployee referral scheme\nNOTICE TO CANDIDATES ON RECRUITMENT FRAUD - We are committed to safeguarding candidates from fraudulent activity associated with our recruitment process.
