Are you an experienced engineering professional looking to take the lead on technically challenging defence projects? Do you enjoy inspiring engineering teams, delivering high-quality solutions and building strong client relationships?

As Assystem's Defence business continues to grow, we're looking for an ambitious Technical Lead to drive the successful technical delivery of projects within our prestigious client account.

Reporting to the Technical Director, you'll play a key role in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring technical excellence and supporting the continued growth of our Defence business.

What You'll Be Doing

Providing technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to engineering delivery teams.

Leading the technical direction, solution development and delivery of engineering projects within the account.

Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.

Ensuring all engineers understand project requirements, technical methods and applicable processes.

Leading Change Control activities across assigned projects.

Taking ownership of technical quality, ensuring all project deliverables meet contractual and client requirements.

Acting as the primary technical point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting on the technical status, progress, risks and performance of assigned projects.

Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with all relevant technical, quality and regulatory standards, including Assystem and client Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Ensuring all engineering personnel are Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) for the activities they undertake.

Supporting business growth by developing technical proposals, customer presentations and engineering solutions.

Building and maintaining strong customer relationships alongside the Technical Director to identify and develop new business opportunities.

Leading the technical aspects of bids and tenders, including defining project scope, methodologies and engineering estimates.

Education & Qualifications

Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline.

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards professional registration, is desirable.

A strong focus on delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.

Ability to oversee and manage large, multidisciplinary engineering projects.

Skills & Experience

Demonstrable experience (2+ years) managing and delivering engineering projects, including leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Knowledge of, and experience in, delivering projects using a Systems Engineering approach, particularly in Requirements Capture, Validation, and Verification.

Experience managing engineering scope across infrastructure projects from Concept Design through Detailed Design and Installation.

Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across multiple teams and organisations.

Experience within the Nuclear and/or Defence industry.

Knowledge and application of current legislation and regulations, including CDM Regulations, Machinery Directive, and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).

Experience working within Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Business Management Systems (BMS).

Experience with NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts is advantageous but not essential.
