This position is based in our satellite production facility in Midland, TX.

Position Summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and reliability of production equipment, facility systems, and manufacturing operations within our satellite production facility. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, repairing equipment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, preventative maintenance experience, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, military maintenance, aerospace, electronics, reliability engineering, or industrial operations is highly preferred.

Pay:  up to $42 an hour based on experience, with overtime opportunities. 

Shift: 2nd Shift - Nights: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 p.m.-4:00 a.m. (4x10 schedule) with a 10% shift differential and paid lunch and breaks

What you’ll do:

Preventative & Predictive Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, machinery, and support equipment.
  • Inspect equipment and systems to identify wear, potential failures, and reliability concerns.
  • Document maintenance activities using maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Assist in developing and improving preventative maintenance programs.

Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and diagnostic tools.
  • Repair or replace motors, sensors, relays, switches, pumps, conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, valves, and related equipment.
  • Utilize multimeters, hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to identify root causes and restore equipment functionality.

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Support production operations by responding to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with installation, modification, relocation, and commissioning of production equipment.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.

Facility Maintenance

  • Maintain building systems including lighting, HVAC, plumbing, compressed air systems, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Perform general facility repairs and maintenance activities as needed.
  • Maintain safe and efficient facility operations.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety practices, and company safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and applicable regulations.

What You Bring:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one (1) year of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, military maintenance, facilities maintenance, electronics maintenance, or related experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Military maintenance experience (Electrical Maintenance, Aviation Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, etc.)
  • Manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductor, chemical plant, refinery, industrial operations, or production facility experience.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience using multimeters and test equipment.
  • Experience working with motors, controls, conveyors, pumps, compressors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance principles.
  • OSHA, electrical safety, Lockout/Tagout, or related certifications.
  • Technical school, vocational training, military technical training, or associate degree in a maintenance-related field.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking abilities.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.
  • Experience supporting high-reliability operations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with shifting priorities.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required to perform job duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing
  • Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 50 pounds as required
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment
  • Ability to work in and around tight or confined spaces
  • Ability to type up to 8-12 hours per day
  • Ability to Reading, identifying colors of labels or signage
  • Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., carbon fiber)
