This role plays a critical part in guaranteeing product reliability, safety, and performance for space applications, while mentoring junior inspectors and supporting continuous improvement in quality control.\nKey Responsibilities\nInspection & Verification\nPerform detailed inspections on propulsion system components, thrusters, subassemblies, and final assemblies using precision measurement tools and test equipment.\nVerify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and acceptance criteria.\nConduct in-process, first-article, and final inspections, including mechanical, electrical, and dimensional checks.\n Documentation & Compliance\nReview and validate inspection documentation, test data, and quality records for accuracy and completeness.\nEnsure compliance with AS9100, ISO, and customer-specific quality requirements.\nMaintain detailed records in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).\nProblem-Solving & Nonconformance\nIdentify, document, and escalate nonconformances and deviations; assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.\nCollaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues efficiently.\nLeadership & Mentorship\nTrain and mentor junior inspectors and technicians on quality standards, inspection techniques, and industry best practices.\nAct as a subject matter expert in propulsion and thruster product quality.\nContinuous Improvement\nRecommend process and inspection improvements to enhance quality, reliability, and efficiency.\nSupport audits, process reviews, and qualification campaigns for propulsion components.\nQualifications\n Education & Experience\nAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.\n7+ years of experience in aerospace or space hardware quality inspection, with at least 3 years in propulsion or thruster systems.\nStrong knowledge of aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, ECSS, NASA, or equivalent).\n Technical Skills\nProficient in using precision measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, borescopes, electrical test equipment).\nAbility to interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and schematics.\nFamiliarity with propulsion system components: valves, tanks, igniters, thruster assemblies, and propellant feed systems.\nStrong understanding of cleanroom protocols and contamination control requirements.\nSoft Skills\nHigh attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.\nEffective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.\nAbility to lead, mentor, and support a culture of quality and accountability.\nPreferred Certifications\nIPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620 (Acceptability of Electronic and Cable Assemblies)\nGD&T certification (ASME Y14.5)\nASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT)\nAST SpaceMobile is an Equal Opportunity, at will Employer;
