Called SpaceMobile, this ultra-powerful network is being designed to provide connectivity at 4G/5G speeds everywhere on the planet - on land, at sea and in flight.\nAST SpaceMobile is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented 5-Axis CNC Programmer to support precision manufacturing operations within our satellite production facility. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for complex aerospace components using 5-axis machining centers. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with multi-axis CNC programming, machining strategies, tooling selection, blueprint interpretation, and precision manufacturing processes in a fast-paced production environment.\nThe 5-Axis CNC Programmer will collaborate closely with manufacturing engineers, machinists, quality teams, and production leadership to ensure parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering specifications and aerospace quality standards. Responsibilities include creating and modifying CNC programs, supporting machine setup and troubleshooting, optimizing cycle times, validating tooling paths, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to maximize machining performance and production efficiency. Strong knowledge of GD&T, CAD/CAM software, tooling, feeds and speeds, and precision measurement practices is highly preferred.\nHourly Pay Rate: $45.00 -$55.00/hr\n$10,000 sign on bonus to assist with relocation.\nWork Schedule\nStandard: Monday-Thursday (4x10 schedule aligned with AST operations)\nOvertime as required based on production demands\nPosition Summary\nThe 5-Axis CNC Programmer is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining multi-axis CNC machining centers to produce high-precision aerospace components. This role ensures all parts are manufactured in compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nWhat you'll do:\nMachine Programmer /Operation & Setup\nProgram and Operate 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture complex aerospace components with tight tolerances\nPerform machine setup including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and work holding\nLoad and verify CNC programs, ensuring correct parameters and material selection\nMonitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency\nProduction & Quality\nInterpret blueprints, GD&T, technical drawings, and work instructions\nPerform first article, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)\nEnsure parts meet strict aerospace tolerances and quality standards\nDocument and report non-conforming parts per quality procedures\nProcess Control & Troubleshooting\nIdentify machining issues (tool wear, chatter, offsets) and implement corrective actions\nOptimize feeds, speeds, and tool paths for efficiency and quality\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization\nMaintenance & Safety\nPerform routine preventative maintenance (lubrication, coolant checks, cleaning)\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment\nFollow all OSHA, company safety, and aerospace compliance standards\nCollaboration & Documentation\nWork closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve issues\nComplete job travelers, ERP entries, and production documentation accurately\nSupport training of junior programmers when required\nWhat you bring:\nHigh school diploma or GED (technical certification preferred)\n2-5+ years of experience Programming and operating5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing environment\nStrong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T\nExperience with precision measuring instruments\nAbility to perform machine setups independently\nStrong attention to detail and quality focus\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in aerospace or defense manufacturing\nFamiliarity with CAD/CAM systems, G-code, Mastercam\nExperience machining aluminum, composites, or aerospace alloys\nPost processor development\nSkills & Competencies\nMechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability\nAbility to operate multiple machines simultaneously\nStrong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials\nTime management and ability to meet production deadlines\nTeam-oriented with strong communication skills\nPhysical Requirements & Work Environment:\nAbility to stand and walk for extended periods (8-10+ hours)\nAbility to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks.\nAbility to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as required to perform job duties.\nAbility to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing.\nAbility to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling.\nAbility to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 50 pounds as required.\nAbility to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.\nAbility to work in and around tight or confined spaces.\nAbility to work in environments that may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., carbon fiber).\nComfortable working in a manufacturing environment (heat, noise, machinery)\nIf you are open to relocating to Midland, this can be a career changing, and life changing, move into the high-tech aerospace world offering a new skill set and job security in a very similar environment that will soon feel like home.
