This role is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining a geographically distributed communications network infrastructure to ensure high availability and service reliability. In addition to network operations responsibilities, the GNOC Engineer will support spare parts inventory management, warehouse operations, and travel to remote sites for equipment maintenance, replacement, and troubleshooting activities.\nKey Responsibilities\nMonitor connectivity, performance, and operational status of distributed communications and network infrastructure.\n\nInvestigate network, RF, and system anomalies; perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and escalation management as required.\n\nMaintain accurate incident records, trouble tickets, maintenance logs, and operational reports.\n\nProvide service assurance through proactive monitoring and timely incident response.\n\nDeliver first-line technical support to customers and internal stakeholders via phone, email, and other communication channels.\n\nPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on communications, network, and related infrastructure systems.\n\nCollaborate with engineering, operations, and support teams on escalations, upgrades, and service-impacting changes.\n\nUtilize monitoring and fault management platforms to track system health, performance, and availability.\n\nManage spare parts inventory, including receiving, storage, stock tracking, audits, and inventory documentation.\n\nCoordinate logistics and shipment of replacement equipment to support maintenance and repair activities.\n\nTravel to operational sites throughout North America to perform equipment replacement, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance activities.\n\nParticipate in a 24x7 operational support environment, including shift work, weekends, and on-call support as required.\n\nQualifications:\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.\n\nRelevant industry certifications are a plus (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Satellite Communications, RF, or equivalent).\n\nExperience\nA minimum of 3 years of experience supporting satellite, wireless, telecommunications, network operations, or related communications infrastructure environments.\n\nExperience troubleshooting complex technical systems in a mission-critical or operational support setting.\n\nHands-on experience working with RF, networking, and communications equipment.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting Network Operations Centers (NOC), Global Network Operations Centers (GNOC), or telecommunications operations environments.\n\nKnowledge of satellite communications infrastructure and ground-based communications systems.\n\nExperience with inventory management, warehouse operations, or spare parts logistics.\n\nFamiliarity with fiber optic infrastructure and broadband networking technologies.\n\nExperience performing field maintenance and supporting remote operational sites.\n\nUnderstanding of preventative maintenance programs and operational readiness processes.\n\nExperience working in a shift-based, 24x7 operational environment.\n\nSoft Skills\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\n\nExcellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.\n\nStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAbility to remain composed and effective during high-priority incidents.\n\nStrong organizational and documentation skills.\n\nMeticulous attention to detail and accuracy.\n\nSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.\n\nAdaptable and flexible in a fast-paced operational environment.\n\nTechnology Stack\nNetwork monitoring and fault management platforms\n\nTicketing and incident management systems\n\nRemote access and remote desktop tools\n\nIP networking technologies (TCP/IP, routing, switching)\n\nFiber optic communications systems\n\nRF communications systems and related infrastructure\n\nModems, multiplexers, and broadband communications equipment\n\nMicrosoft Office Suite\n\nReporting and operational dashboard tools\n\nInventory and asset management systems\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods.\n\nAbility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.\n\nAbility to travel domestically and internationally as needed.\n\nAbility to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.\n\nAbility to lift and move equipment and spare parts weighing up to 50 pounds.\n\nAbility to work in equipment rooms, communications facilities, and remote operational sites.\n\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders occasionally while performing field maintenance activities.\n\nAbility to travel on short notice in support of business-critical operational needs.\n\nThis job description may not be inclusive to the duties and responsibilities listed.
