These applications span multiple industrial sectors including semi-conductor, aerospace, precision engineering, and biomedical manufacturing.\nJob Description:\nThe Optics and Imaging Systems (OIS) Group develops automated optical and non-optical inspection technologies for industrial applications. The Group works closely with academic institutions and industry partners to co-develop inspection equipment, AI-enabled software systems, and advanced imaging solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and researchers within OIS to strengthen the Group’s AI, computer vision, and software development capabilities. The candidate is expected to contribute to the development of robust, maintainable, and deployable software systems involving AI models, image processing algorithms, robotics integration, and industrial inspection workflows.\nKey application areas include:\nCustomised inspection systems for real-time detection in production lines \nAdvanced imaging-based inspection equipment for quality control in manufacturing \nAI-assisted defect and anomaly detection, segmentation, classification, and measurement \nVision-based automation and robotics-assisted inspection \nImage recognition and analysis for industrial and biomedical applications\nThe key roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nDevelop AI-based image recognition and computer vision modules for industrial inspection applications. \nApply object-oriented programming and good software engineering practices to ensure maintainable, modular, and reusable code. \nDevelop and integrate AI models for object detection, segmentation, classification, defect detection, and pattern recognition. \nWork with deep learning frameworks and deployment tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, TensorRT, or similar. \nSupport model design, training, evaluation, optimisation, and deployment for industrial use cases. \nIntegrate AI and computer vision modules with 2D and 3D imaging systems, robotics platforms, sensors, cameras, or production-line equipment. \nWork with relevant tools and libraries such as OpenCV, ROS, Open3D, or similar platforms where applicable. \nUse development and DevOps tools such as Git, Docker, issue tracking systems, and CI/CD workflows. \nAssist in technical documentation, reports, demonstrations, and training materials. \nCollaborate with researchers, engineers, software developers, and industry partners.\nJob Requirements\nBachelor’s degree or higher in any Engineering discipline.\nProficiency in C++, and Python.
