The technician will work outdoors daily using ladders, and hand tools to restore service, perform preventative maintenance, and support network reliability.\nThe Broadband Network Technician I is responsible for detecting, troubleshooting and resolving system outages for data, video, and telephone.\nThis role will be responsible for emergency restoration of coax, Fiber, underground cable, maintenance of power supply, leakage, and splicing. \nThe BNT I is required to maintain documentation as needed.\nDetect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and/or underground capacities related to transmission levels, signal losses and off-air interference.\nPrepare and perform emergency underground coaxial cable restoration due to variables such as cable breaks and/or damage.\nPerform preventative maintenance (power supply, actives) in the form of testing, balancing, alignment and adjustments of components or equipment\nMonitor, record and repair cable leakage, complying with applicable regulations\nObserve and assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities\nComplete and distribute required documentation, such as work orders and daily logs\nInstall, replace, and repair coaxial and fiber optic cabling, including aerial and buried plant\nOperate ladders, and field equipment to include test meters, fusion splicers, and other necessary hand tools\nParticipation in a 24/7 on-call rotation\nOther duties as assigned\nWhat You Bring to the Table:\nRequirements/Qualifications\nEducation: High school diploma or equivalent\n2+ years of hands-on experience in telecom field work, cabling, construction, or utilities (coax, fiber, or electrical)\nMaintain satisfactory driving record and have a valid driver's license\nCustomer Service\nCommunication (verbal, written)\nBasic Computer Skills\nAptitude to learn to skills\nProblem solving\nTime Management\nTeamwork\nWorking alone and with a team\nAbility to read and interpret maps\nUnderstanding of the Outside Plant and how it works\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to lift and carry up to 75 lbs\nWork performed in both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled environments, with potential exposure to heat, cold, dust, damp conditions, uneven surfaces, heights, and moving vehicles\nProlonged standing, walking, sitting, and driving required\nAbility to safely climb and work from ladders for extended periods of time\nFrequent reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs and ladders, and using hands above and below shoulder level\nAbility to bend, twist, kneel, squat, crawl, and maintain various body positions and perform fine motor tasks, forceful gripping, and limited keyboarding\nWe're Proud to Offer a Comprehensive Benefits Package Including:\n401k retirement plan, with employer match\n\nInsurance options including: medical, dental, vision, life and STD insurance\n\nPaid Time Off/Vacation: Starting at 80 hours per year, and increases based on tenure with the organization\n\nFloating Holiday: 40 hours per year\n\nPaid Holidays: 7 days per year\n\nPaid Sick Leave: Astound allows a number of paid sick hours per calendar year and varies based on state and/or local laws\n\nTuition reimbursement program\n\nEmployee discount program\n\n*Benefits listed above are for regular full-time position\nThe base salary in Pennsylvania for this position is $21.47-$35.73 per hour plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable.
