Astranis designs, builds, and operates its satellites out of its 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Northern California, USA.\nCamera Operator Associate (Fall 2026)\nAstranis is looking for a Camera Operator Intern to help capture the people, technology, and work behind our missions. You'll film interviews, manufacturing processes, and behind-the-scenes moments that show what it takes to build satellites and bring them to space.\nThis is a hands-on production role working closely with our Creative team. You'll help translate creative concepts into compelling footage, with a focus on camera operation, lighting, and audio. You'll gain exposure to satellite manufacturing and a fast-paced startup environment building technology that's launching into space.\nAssociate programs at Astranis typically last for a minimum of twelve weeks.\nRole\nWork with our Creative team to bring scripts, shot lists, and visual concepts to life.\nOperate cameras for interviews, manufacturing videos, behind-the-scenes content, and company events.\nCapture compelling B-roll of our satellites, manufacturing processes, and the people behind our missions.\nMust have experience setting up and adjusting lighting for interviews, product shots, and on-location filming.\nSet up and adjust lighting for interviews and filming across our factory and office spaces.\nSet up microphones and monitor audio to capture clear, usable sound.\nPrepare and maintain cameras, lenses, lighting, audio, and support equipment.\nOrganize and back up footage, providing clear handoffs to editors.\nRequirements\nA portfolio or reel showcasing your camera work, composition, and lighting. Personal and school projects are welcome. Please identify your role on each project.\nHands-on experience operating cameras, including setting exposure, white balance, frame rates, and focus.\nFamiliarity with basic lighting setups and audio recording for interviews.\nAn eye for composition, movement, and the details that make footage visually engaging.\nAbility to follow creative direction, contribute shot ideas, and adapt to changing filming conditions.\nStrong organization and attention to detail when handling equipment and footage.\nExcellent communication skills and comfort working with people across technical and creative teams.\nA self-starter who takes initiative and follows through on assigned projects.\nAble to work in the office five days a week.\nBonus\nA Bachelor's Degree\nExperience as a camera operator or director of photography on student, independent, or professional productions.\nExperience filming manufacturing, industrial environments, documentaries, or technical subjects.\nFamiliarity with gimbals, sliders, and other camera support systems.\nExperience with Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.\nInterest in aerospace, technology, and connecting the world.\nThe base salary for this position is $1,750 per week.\nBase Salary\n$1,750—$1,750 USD\nU.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required\n(To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))\nOur mission and products are built for everyone, regardless of gender, race, creed, or background.
