Astranis designs, builds, and operates its satellites out of its 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Northern California, USA.\nHarness Design Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)\nInternships at Astranis typically last for twelve weeks, and are hourly roles designed for students who are currently enrolled at a four-year university. \nAs an Intern, you will have an amazing opportunity to work on hard problems - we pride ourselves on giving everyone at Astranis a chance to do meaningful work on challenging projects, no matter their seniority. Many past interns have designed and tested hardware/software that is heading to space on our first satellite, and many of them are now full-time employees at Astranis. \nIf you have already graduated from a four-year university, please apply to be an Associate Engineer.\nRole:\nWork with the harnessing design team on designing flight and test harnessing\nCreate wiring diagrams, block diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings of spacecraft harnessing \nWork with cross-functional teams to define interfaces between different subsystems\nUse CAD programs to route harnessing in 3D\nUtilize EE fundamentals to select appropriate design components based on various requirements like voltage, power, frequency, and data-rate\nWork with production to fabricate in-house cables\nRequirements:\nCurrently pursuing a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in mechatronics or electrical engineering (or equivalent technical degree)\nInterest in learning about, designing, and working with various spacecraft systems and subsystems\nFamiliar with power and data transmission concepts\nBonus:\nExperience with Zuken (or other harness design software)\nExperience with various connectors and wire types including MIL circular and D-Sub/microD\nExperience with 3D CAD software like Solidworks\nThe base pay for this position is $29.00 per hour.\nBase Hourly Pay\n$29—$29 USD\nU.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required\n(To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))\nOur mission and products are built for everyone, regardless of gender, race, creed, or background.
