Typical Accountabilities

- Review scientific literature and consult with internal experts to identify biological mechanisms underlying pathophysiology and potential drug effects.

- Assist in designing and executing studies by preparing pharmacogenetics components of clinical study protocols to assess biological mechanisms.

- Liaise with Clinical Pharmacology colleagues to assist in designing and executing Phase I to Phase III Clinical Trials to establish Proof of Principle and support Proof of Concept.

- Initiate and monitor epidemiological research conducted by external scientific groups while providing medical expertise to non-physician epidemiology colleagues.

- Act as a regional technical expert, delivering strategic input, offering consultancy, and supporting the Physician area of specialization.

- Evaluate safety and pharmacodynamic aspects of early-stage clinical trials for new compounds.

- Deliver pharmacogenetics contributions to Translational Science Plans and Clinical Development Plans to enhance research outcomes.

- Supervise volunteers in medical trials and review safety assessments to ensure compliance with protocols.

- Lead development of statistical standards or techniques to improve project quality, efficiency, and overall Group effectiveness.

- Conduct specialized research to enhance Biostatistics contributions to global product submissions across a range of therapies.

- Provide strategic input, statistical expertise, and leadership in designing and interpreting clinical studies and study programs.

- Apply medical expertise to support internal proposal development and external regulatory submissions effectively.

- Serve as a knowledge source in areas of expertise, defining and communicating key initiatives across various departments and functions.

- Establish and implement policies, procedures, and objectives in work or team areas to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.

- Offer professional expertise to design, analyze, and interpret epidemiological studies while performing in-depth epidemiological literature reviews.

- Promote good physician practices and ensure adherence to relevant protocols in clinical trials.

- Develop operational systems and refine research processes across responsibilities to improve project efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential: Medical degree; Thorough knowledge of study analysis and design in all phases of drug development; Experience of modelling and simulation to improve execution of studies.

Desirable: Extensive general medical knowledge.
