This role provides technical guidance to laboratory R&D and support functions.\nThe position will partner with laboratory and operational teams, Facilities, Quality, Security, Occupational Health, and other stakeholders to identify and control risks, maintain compliance, strengthen EHS culture, and ensure effective implementation of EHS programs. The role requires strong communication, analytical, organizational, and data-management skills, as well as the ability to influence stakeholders across a complex organization.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop, implement, and maintain EHS safety programs, procedures, standards, and guidance in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, recognized industry practices, and organizational requirements.\nConduct and review risk assessments for laboratory and support activities.\nParticipate in the investigation of environmental, health, and safety incidents, near misses, spills, and nonconformances. Assist with root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and effectiveness reviews.\nSupport the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of EHS management systems, including risk registers, compliance obligations, procedures, objectives, performance indicators, audits, inspections, management reviews, and corrective action processes.\nConduct or support routine EHS inspections, internal audits, compliance assessments, and operational reviews. Track findings and work with responsible functions to ensure timely closure and sustainable corrective actions.\nDevelop and deliver EHS training, onboarding materials, awareness campaigns, and role-specific guidance. Evaluate training effectiveness and maintain appropriate training records.\nMaintain accurate EHS records and databases, analyze trends, prepare dashboards and performance reports, and use data to identify emerging risks and opportunities for improvement. Ensure data quality, consistency, confidentiality, and timely reporting.\nBuild effective working relationships with employees, contractors, scientists, engineers, managers, and senior leaders. Provide practical, risk-based advice and promote ownership of EHS responsibilities throughout the organization.\nSupport emergency response planning, drills, preparedness assessments, and response activities involving biological materials, chemical hazards, spills, exposures, releases, and other EHS events.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, engineering, environmental sciences, occupational health and safety, or a closely related scientific or technical discipline.\nA minimum of \n5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental, health, and safety, biological safety, laboratory safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, or a related field.\nCertification or ability to achieve certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP), or Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP).\nDemonstrated understanding of biotechnology including viral vectors, biological safety principles, hazard identification, risk assessment, biosafety controls, biological waste management, incident response, and applicable regulatory or industry requirements.\nExperience supporting EHS management systems, audits, inspections, corrective and preventive actions, performance metrics, compliance evaluations, or continuous-improvement initiatives.\nStrong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical requirements clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.\nDemonstrated ability to collect, maintain, evaluate, and report EHS data using databases, spreadsheets, dashboards, or other electronic systems. Proficiency with standard office and data-analysis tools is required.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, maintain accurate records, and work independently while contributing effectively to a cross-functional team.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in biology, chemistry environmental sciences, engineering, occupational health and safety, public health, industrial hygiene, or related discipline.\n5 plus years of relevant experience in biological safety, EHS, laboratory safety, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, or EHS management systems, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, medical device, chemical, or other highly regulated industry.\nCertification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP), or Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP).\nExperience with recognized EHS or management-system standards, such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or comparable internal governance frameworks.\nExperience with EHS information management systems, electronic laboratory or quality systems, data visualization tools, or reporting platforms.\nCore Competencies\nThe successful candidate will demonstrate technical credibility, sound judgment, attention to detail, collaboration, accountability, influence, adaptability, and a proactive approach to risk management. The role requires the ability to translate regulatory and technical requirements into clear, practical, and sustainable operational controls.\nWork Environment and Physical Requirements\nThe role may require work in laboratory office, utility, and other operational environments. The employee may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and participate in inspections, emergency exercises, incident response, and field assessments. The position may involve occasional lifting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, or entering controlled or regulated areas, subject to site-specific requirements.\nThe annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $97,000- $ 146,000 USD Annual. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives-an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles.
