You’ll lead activities related to the upkeep and servicing of assets, helping us deliver safe, reliable and high-performing engineering systems while improving skills throughout the team.\nHere is a chance to combine your engineering proficiency with people leadership. You’ll mentor and support engineering staff, technical specialists, and those coordinating engineering efforts, develop asset care strategies and help embed maintenance excellence across the engineering team.\nWhat you’ll do:\nAs our Maintenance Lead, you’ll:\nLead the delivery of asset and energy performance across the Utilities department\nDevelop and implement effective strategies for asset maintenance and repair\nLead, mentor and develop engineers, technicians and engineering coordinators\nApply your engineering expertise to improve asset availability, performance and output quality\nEnsure maintenance activities are effectively planned, resourced and delivered\nMentor teams in maintenance, equipment management, and problem-solving methodologies\nIdentify equipment risks, including obsolescence, and develop appropriate mitigation\nUse asset performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement\nLead ongoing improvement efforts, including equipment upgrades, replacement and optimisation\nHelp embed Lean principles and standardised ways of working\nSupport audits and regulatory inspections within your area of responsibility\nLead engineering change controls associated with improvement activities\nWork with internal teams, technical specialists and external service providers to drive performance\nMaintain high standards concerning safety, GxP regulations, and engineering protocols\nHandle relevant budgets, resources, suppliers and service agreements efficiently.\nLead and nurture your team:\nPeople leadership is an important part of this role. You will guide a team that includes Engineering Technicians, an Engineering Coordinator and junior engineers working on maintenance and continuous improvement activities.\nWe’ll look to you to create an environment where people can perform at their best. You’ll set clear goals, coach and develop your team, support individual development and encourage open communication and collaboration.\nDrive maintenance perfection:\nYou’ll take a proactive approach to asset care, ensuring we have the right maintenance strategies, resources and capabilities in place to support reliable performance.\nYou’ll bring together technical knowledge, performance data and engineering procedure to understand potential failure mechanisms, improve maintenance effectiveness and optimise asset performance. You’ll also help strengthen capability across the wider department by coaching colleagues in asset care and maintenance methodologies.\nWhat we are searching for:\nWe are seeking someone with:\nA relevant engineering degree or recognised engineering training route, such as an apprenticeship\nSignificant shown experience of assets and asset management practices within a highly regulated environment\nStrong engineering and maintenance knowledge, capable of contributing technical expertise across asset performance and equipment upkeep\nExperience coaching and supporting others in engineering or maintenance activities\nAn understanding of SHE, GxP and engineering compliance requirements\nUsing data and performance measures to support maintenance and asset care decisions\nA collaborative approach, with the ability to build effective relationships across different teams and fields.\nIt would be great if you also have:\nYou don’t need to tick every box, but having the following would be beneficial:\nChartered or working towards Chartership with an appropriate engineering institution.\nWhy join us?:\nThis is an opportunity to make an impact across both people and performance.\nYou’ll have the chance to shape how we care for our engineering assets, develop the capability of colleagues around you and lead improvements that strengthen reliability and maintenance performance.
