Principal Programmer

Typical Accountabilities

- Manage the process of maintaining database programs and conducting research within a specialized area of programming, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and stakeholder requirements.

- Establish robust quality control measures to ensure database accuracy, completeness, and validity, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve these objectives.

- Provide expert technical support to AstraZeneca clients on a regional scale, with occasional global responsibilities, by addressing complex technical challenges and delivering innovative solutions.

- Develop and lead collaborative, multi-skilled teams from various scientific disciplines, including project management, to enhance the efficiency and quality of deliverables.

- Lead or oversee initiatives aimed at improving data interpretation quality, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing cost and time efficiency across projects.

- Ensure all work complies with AstraZeneca standards and external regulatory requirements, thereby minimizing risks of non-compliance.

- Provide effective leadership of the Programming function by maintaining high-quality database standards and promoting best practices within the team.

- Represent AstraZeneca and the Programming function at external events, such as conferences, workshops, and stakeholder meetings, to strengthen the organization’s industry presence.

- Network with internal and external colleagues and experts, offering consultancy in your specialized area and sharing expertise to enhance team competence and project outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential: Bachelor of Science in a relevant discipline; extensive programming experience in pharmaceutical or clinical settings; comprehensive knowledge of databases and regulatory requirements; exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.

Desirable: Advanced degree in a computer-related discipline; recognized expert within the business and industry; comprehensive knowledge of current technical and regulatory standards.
