We specialize in Passenger Service Units (PSUs) which incorporate air handling, emergency oxygen, electrical power management and cabin lighting systems. We also manufacture a wide range of fuel tank access doors that meet stringent strength, fuel sealing and anti-corrosion requirements.\nWe are adding a Buyer II to our great team. To be successful in this role you will need to be an experienced buyer able to perform production purchasing duties across the entire portfolio of Astronics-PECO products to support production while ensuring that inventory levels are managed according to company objectives and industry best practices. \nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities\nPrepares and monitors purchase orders and procures materials to support production plans; interacts with Planners, Production/Assembly, Engineering, Suppliers and subcontractors to ensure procurement of materials within approved schedules and quality specifications.\nTakes charge in managing supplier relationship for purchased materials and subcontracted processes.\nProvides input to and execution of supplier contracts including Long Term Agreements, Tooling Agreements, and capital equipment purchases.\nCreates and implements special purchasing programs with company suppliers including Kanban, JIT delivery, bread man systems, outsourcing, etc.\nMonitors material levels and status of materials; reviews for excess inventory and coordinates scrap and / or resell back to suppliers.\nAdvises Planning of delays and works to resolve material shortage issues. Finds long-term solutions to reduce expedites and premium freight.\nMay perform cost analysis on manufactured and purchased parts.\nProvides input on supplier performance evaluation.\nMay travel to current and prospective suppliers; travel can include domestic and international destinations up to 1 week per quarter.\nAttends Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standards accordingly. Ensures that all inventory items are purchased from Approved Sources.\nOther duties as assigned.\nDesired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experiences:\nBachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.\nThree years production purchasing experience as a Buyer, preferably in a manufacturing environment.\nKnowledge of lean / throughput techniques and MRP theory and concepts.\nASCM and/or ISM certification preferred.\nExcellent oral and written skills.\nExperience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities\nAbility to work in team environment.\nProven experience in using MRP to manage inventory and minimize production down-time.\nSkill with Microsoft Office software including advanced Excel, Word, and presentation graphics.\nEmployment Eligibility Requirements:\nThis position may involve access to items subject to U.S. export-control laws.
