The company now employs over 300 employees and is a six-time recipient of Chicago's Best and Brightest Employers to Work For award.\nSummary\nThis position is responsible for ensuring compliance to the inspection criteria defined by the company and its customers in accordance with AS9102 - First Article Inspection.\nThis position helps to drive compliance to the Quality Management System in Astronics and adherence to the Engineering Requirements of the parts and products across the supply chain. The tasks and responsibilities are performed during the initial phase of a new product, or the introduction of new parts as well as changes to any of them. The position is fully responsible to measure, verify and create the reports with the necessary data to confirm that first articles meet requirements, and communicate to the requestor(s).\nThe position is responsible to provide guidance to requirements defined by the customer, blueprint(s) or certificate(s) of conformance to the team members, as well as act as an escalation point for discrepancies that arise from the inspection process.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nThe essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties as assigned.\nResponsible to measure parts according to drawings, prints or applicable specifications.\nResponsible to fill out the applicable forms and templates with the inspections results.\nResponsible to gather the applicable documentation as evidence of the FAI\nResponsible to create the package to communicate to the involved parties the results of the FAI.\nResponsible to communicate the work via the applicable channels (i.e Customer’s websites, network folders, email, etc).\nResponsible to communicate any discrepancies found and escalate through the applicable channels and contact persons.\nSupports the inspection processes across the manufacturing site on the designated area. Includes, but not limited to:\nInspection and Verification of all associated documentation tied up to the received parts, includes but is not limited to: certificates of compliance (CoC), material certificates, drawings, test reports, etc.\nIn-Process Inspection to ensure production is completing processes correctly as defined in the production work instructions and as defined in the blueprint.\nVerify electrical test set up and/or final test results to ensure testing is being done correctly for each job.\nResponsible to perform (as designated) the final inspection of product and ensure compliance to: Certificates of Compliance, Customer documentation as required.\nFulfill and deliver inspection reports as required.\nOther designated inspection activities that need to be fulfilled to comply with the established requirements.\nUtilize inspection, measurement, and test equipment (caliper, micrometer, comparator, ruler, Micro-Vu, meters, Cirris Testers, Etc.) to verify that products are manufactured to specification.\nFollow communication and escalation process on quality, manufacturing, supplier, and other issues or concerns that come up during the shift.\nCreate, verify, inspect, and deliver required product and part labels to manufacturing.\nResponsible to follow and ensure compliance to the Quality Management System requirements as well as Customer Specific Requirements on the products that fall within their area of responsibility.\nResponsible to follow and ensure compliance with all the safety protocols and procedures throughout the organization.\nResponsible for implementing and complying with all ethical and legal compliance requirements.\nRecommend opportunities for improvement with aim of facilitating and promoting better practices while ensuring the highest level of Quality.\nOther duties & functions may be assigned to this position as needed by the supervisor or lead.\nQualifications\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.\nRequired:\nMinimum 1-2 year in a manufacturing environment.\nRead and understand process documents and industry standards.\nTeam Player with good written and oral communication skills in English.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment.\nAbility to shift/assess/manage priorities as required/needed\nAttention to detail and accuracy a must.\nMust understand basic math skills, including fractions, decimals and basic statistical techniques.\nBasic computer skills\nProficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.\nKnowledge of mechanical, electrical and cable & wire drawings.\nPreferred:\nAble to read blueprints and drawings (GD&T).\nExperience in First Article Inspections Reports (FAIR’s).\nExperience with FAI Software (Discus).\nKnowledge and understanding of C of C’s, Material Certifications.\nExperience using basic inspection and test equipment (ruler, caliper, and meter).\nWorking knowledge of ISO/9001/14000/13485 and AS9100 processes.\nExperience working in a lean manufacturing facility or continuous improvement environment.\nCompensation & Benefits:\nThe base salary range for this position is $22.00- $25.00 per hour, influenced by several factors including experience, skill set, education, certifications, market conditions, and business needs. In addition, you will be eligible for our Quarterly Incentive compensation bonus.\nThis position may involve access to items subject to U.S. export-control laws.
