Provide quality experiences that focus on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families. This part-time position and starts at $11.50/hr.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Child Development Center Director at ASYMCA-El Paso, the Assistant Teacher will have the following responsibilities, including, but not limited to:\nAssisting teachers in developing and preparing plans outlining learning experiences and activities for a group of children. \nImplementing the program to meet the needs, special interests and capabilities of children and in accordance with the teacher’s lesson plan.\nEnsuring children's safety and knowing how to carry out emergency procedures when needed.\nAttending parent-child events as necessary. \nProviding a neat, clean environment for all children, including snack/kitchen area, and monitoring children’s activities to ensure that children clean up after themselves. \nAttending staff meetings and in-service training to meet the Continuing Education requirements established by the licensing office. \nCommunicating with parents through the lead teacher and as required by the CDC Director.\nAssisting with children during transitional times and changes in the daily schedule.\nWorking cooperatively with all staff, communicating directly and avoiding gossip between employees. \nInteracting with the children at all times, especially during snack time, group activity time and outdoor time. \nMaintaining a clean, sanitary, and attractive room, including shelves, closets and drawers. \nObserving behavior of children and discussing unusual behaviors with the teacher or CDC Director. \nDemonstrating flexibility to move from one group of children to another when requested. \nParticipating in special events, field trips and special programs.\nBecoming familiar with state regulations and inspections procedures, as well as policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.\nSupporting the program goals of the ASYMCA.\nAssisting with other duties as assigned. \nQualifications, Education, and Experience:Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.\nAA in ECE, ECD, Education & Teaching or CDA preferred.\nAt least 18 years of age.\nExperience, minimum 1 year, working with children in a developmental setting.\nPrevious experience planning, organizing, and implementing age- and developmentally appropriate activities.\nAny combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.\nMust have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.\nWork Environment and Physical Demands :Position is physically demanding and requires constant bending, stooping, and lifting (15lbs), as well as walking and standing; must be willing to assist in moving household items and furniture.\n2.
