Frequently engages manufacturing and program engineering as well as support teams to develop new product launches to expand program offerings. Will effectively represent the company in all customer interactions; building lasting relationships through trust, results, and superior communication.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nInterface with customer’s Product Engineering team and Business Development as liaison to new programs.\nPresent new products to manufacturing for future launches through development of BOM, Engineering specifications, Components, complexity, and Suppliers.\nLeads or supports Program Management in launch of new programs and product changes.\nResearch common failure modes within new product to develop understanding of component attrition.\nParticipates with Materials and Supplier Quality departments in Supplier Development activities.\n Maintain documents that directs internal resources to adapt to customer systems; including revisions, BOM updates, change orders, and other customer notifications that will require internal updates. Develop presentations as needed to illustrate progress to stakeholders.\nDemonstrate clear and effective communication in all aspects of work. Understand the communication system that works best for the situation, and consistently keep key stakeholders informed.\nDemonstrate safety awareness in all aspects of daily management and performance improvement. Understand how to advance our culture of safety, integrating safety improvements whenever practical and applicable.\nLeadership Behaviors\nAbility to work professionally with internal and external customers to integrate new business, reduce costs, and represent organization at multiple customer engagements.\nHigh sense of urgency and self-direction with the ability to organize and execute complex engineering and process improvement tasks in a team environment.\nHands-on approach to problem solving and working with teams; practical knowledge of the people, process, and desired outcomes on respective process.\nSuperior communication, follow-up, and follow-through in all aspects of daily activities.\nAccountability\nThe Product Engineer is responsible for research and development of new products, brought forth by our business development team, that can be for remanufacturing at our various production sites. Company leadership will look to the Product Engineer to continue directing the growth of these products.\nKey Qualifications\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence teams and program outcomes.\nKnowledge base related to the automotive industry is a plus.\nCommitment to build and advance strong customer relationships.\nPowertrain and Drivetrain experience is a plus - engine and transmission experience is preferred\nEducation and Experience\nA Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or physical science discipline. 7-10 years of proven experience integrating new products is a plus.\nA thorough understanding of the operational theory and components of automatic transmissions and internal combustion engines.\nHigh level of analytical ability required, where problems are unusual, complex, and difficult.\nPreferred - 7 years of experience, prioritizing tasks, and accurately estimate the time and costs required for project completion.\nLanguage Skills\nThe ability to read and interpret manufacturing documents/drawings/prints/details such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, machine drawings, wiring/electrical schematics, and repair manuals is required.\nMust write detailed reports with supporting documentation and data.\nSuperior communication and escalation skills and habits are critical to the manufacturing engineering role; including customers, team members, and leadership communication.\nComputer Skills\nMust be proficient in the operation of computers, word processing, spreadsheet and database software and design software applications.\nMust be able to demonstrate the ability to develop written communication, spreadsheets, charts and graphs.\nCritical Thinking and Problem Solving\nThe position requires the ability to solve complex problems with limited known variables, in situations where only limited standardization exists.
