This position is based remotely in the United States.\nTeam summary:\nThe Data Imports and Migrations team supports customer implementations and data transition efforts by building repeatable, scalable processes for bringing in and transforming legacy healthcare data. The team works closely with product, implementation, engineering, and operations partners to define migration approaches, create ETL routines, validate data quality, and support export activities. The work is focused on delivering dependable data movement that helps customers get started on athenahealth with greater confidence and less disruption.\nEssential Job Responsibilities:\nDevelop and support ETL workflows that extract, transform, and load data from legacy EHRs systems into athenahealth environments.\n\nWrite and maintain functions used for data analysis, validation, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.\n\nBuild Python and SQL scripts and utilities that support import, migration, and automation activities.\n\nPartner with internal teams to define source-to-target mappings, business rules, and migration requirements.\n\nReview inbound and outbound data to identify gaps, defects, and transformation issues.\n\nSupport interoperability workflows using HL7 and FHIR standards.\n\nPerform EHI export-related tasks and validate output for completeness and accuracy.\n\nInvestigate data issues, document findings, and help drive resolution across teams.\n\nMaintain technical documentation for processes, dependencies, and validation steps.\n\nUse AI to improve productivity in data analysis and development tasks, while applying human review to confirm accuracy and align outputs to the needs of the work.\n\nAdditional Job Responsibilities:\nContribute to process improvements that increase the scalability and repeatability of migration work.\n\nSupport testing and validation activities for data import and export processes.\n\nParticipate in project planning, status updates, and issue triage as needed.\n\nHelp maintain reusable tools, templates, and standards for migration work.\n\nAssist with documentation updates and knowledge sharing across the team.\n\nSupport coordination across product, implementation, operations, and engineering partners.\n\nHelp identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation and better process design.\n\nExpected Education & Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n\n5+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL, data migration, or a related technical discipline.\n\nExperience working with ETL, SQL, and Python.\n\nExperience supporting data imports, conversions, migrations, or similar data movement work.\n\nFamiliarity with HL7 and FHIR interoperability standards.\n\nExperience with EHI Export or related healthcare data export workflows preferred.\n\nExperience working with healthcare data, healthcare technology, or implementation-focused teams preferred.\n\nAbility to analyze data, identify issues, and document technical results clearly.\n\nAbility to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional environment.\n\nStrong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills\n\nExpected Compensation\nThe base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.
