Assignments could include:\nSafety assurance for major UK defence acquisition and in-service programmes. \nDigital safety-case transformation, including structured Claims, Arguments and Evidence and improved use of live safety information. \nPan-domain work involving enterprise services, information systems, autonomous or digitally enabled capabilities. \nIndependent assurance, safety governance and improvement of safety management systems.\nYour role\nDelivering safety engineering and assurance activities across complex defence programmes, you’ll apply structured safety methods, produce clear evidence and help clients make robust decisions throughout the lifecycle.\nSupport the development, maintenance and delivery of safety cases, safety assessments and safety management plans. \nCreate and maintain hazard logs; support hazard identification, risk assessment and risk-reduction activities. \nDevelop clear safety arguments and manage the evidence needed to support acceptance and operation. \nApply proportionate safety analysis techniques such as HAZID, HAZOP, FHA, PHA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA, ETA and Bow Tie analysis. \nDerive, allocate, trace and verify safety requirements across the engineering lifecycle. \nProduce high-quality technical reports, presentations and client deliverables. \nContribute to safety working groups, assurance reviews, audits and multidisciplinary engineering decisions. \nBuild effective relationships with clients, delivery partners, operators, suppliers and assurance authorities.\nAbout you\nEssential experience and attributes\nRelevant experience delivering safety engineering or safety assurance in a defence environment, gained through industry, MOD or the Armed Forces, including contributing to safety cases, safety assessments, hazard logs or structured risk-management activities. \nAn understanding of systems engineering and the engineering lifecycle, with the ability to analyse technical information and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. \nA collaborative, curious and delivery-focused approach, with the confidence to ask questions and seek support when needed. \nA relevant degree, technical qualification or demonstrable equivalent professional experience. \nDesirable experience\nKnowledge of Defence Safety Authority regulations, Def Stan 00-056, JSP 815, Unified SEMS or related domain policy and guidance. \nExperience of Claims, Arguments and Evidence, Goal Structuring Notation, ALARP demonstration or independent assurance. \nExperience using digital safety, requirements or risk-management tools. \nProfessional registration, or active progress towards IEng or CEng, and membership of a relevant institution such as the IET, SaRS, IMechE, IExpE or RAeS.\nRewards & benefits\nExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive - at every stage of your life and your career.
