You will be part of the Engineering Management practice within the AtkinsRéalis Complex Projects business with a team of over 600 professional designers, engineers and consultants. This together with AtkinsRéalis broader cross discipline capability means engineers have an unrivalled collective knowledge to tap into and learn from.\nThis role's Job Grade is P3B / P4B, with flexibility in location across our engineering teams in London, Glasgow, York, Birmingham, Derby and Bristol; the role is office-based and will require working at other project sites/offices.\nYour role\nThis role is for a leader within the teams working on railway systems / signalling projects, with responsibility for all Engineering aspects of the project. Project reporting will be to the Project Manager/Director with line reporting into the Engineering Management Practice. This role will be the Contractor’s Engineering Manager for the project and will provide leadership to all discipline engineers and teams.\nPrimary functions of the role include:\nProviding leadership to and coordinating the efforts of the engineering teams.\nFostering a high-performance culture through motivation, collaboration, and clear communication.\nSetting the safety and engineering culture for the project.\nUnderstanding contractual requirements and communicating to the Engineering Team.\nFocal point for technical issues/coordinating between AtkinsRéalis, Sub-contractors and Client.\nAddressing and resolving scope cost changes and schedule impact issues with the Project Manager.\nEnsuring achievement of safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives.\nDeveloping and coordinating Engineering sub-contracts.\nLeading inter-disciplinary communication, activities and reviews.\nActively managing the engineering budget.\nContributing to project close-out activities and organisational learning.\nDeveloping project engineers to grow professionally and deliver excellence, through mentoring, coaching and leadership.\nAbout you\nEssential Qualifications and ExperienceExtensive UK railway project engineering experience.\nLeadership experience.\nChartered Engineer.\nExperience of undertaking CEM responsibilities on Network Rail infrastructure.\nUnderstanding of risk management, CDM and CSM.\n\nDesirable Qualifications and ExperienceHolds applicable IRSE Licences.\nExperience of introducing new equipment / systems onto the rail network.\n\nEssential Personal QualitiesExcellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple locations and disciplines.\nCollaborative leader focused on delivering successful outcomes.\nFlexible, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach.\nStrong strategic thinking, data-driven decision-maker and problem-solving capability.\nPassion for innovation, continuous improvement, and developing high-performing teams.\n\nRewards & benefits\nExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive - at every stage of your life and your career.
