Overview
We are currently seeking a dynamic and growth focused Junior Geological Engineer to join the Geotechnical Practice. This position is based in Vaughan or Ottawa, Ontario, with flexibility for candidates located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and wider Ontario.
The successful applicant will be a motivated Junior Geological Engineer (E.I.T.) with an interest in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, rock mechanics, and geohazard assessments. The role will involve supporting senior technical staff in the planning and execution of field investigations, geological mapping, terrain assessments, geotechnical analyses, and engineering studies for infrastructure projects. Strong communication, technical writing, and teamwork skills are essential.
Your role
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Geological Sciences, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university. A relevant postgraduate qualification (M.Sc. or equivalent) would be considered an asset.
- Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.), or eligible for registration with the applicable provincial engineering association, with a demonstrated commitment toward achieving professional licensure (P.Eng.).
- Minimum 1 year of relevant post-graduate experience in geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, mining, tunneling, rock mechanics, geohazards, or related consulting and infrastructure sectors.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, environmental stewardship, and quality management practices.
- A willingness to travel on short assignments both within Ontario and nationwide.
- Valid driver’s license.
