For this role, you can be based in either our Pickering or Mississauga, ON, offices, within a hybrid working environment.\nAs a Mechanical Engineer within the Enabling Projects team, you will play a key role in developing the technologies, infrastructure, and strategic initiatives required to support the next generation of nuclear and clean energy projects. Working within the New Build FEED organization, you will provide technical know-how across multidisciplinary teams, helping transform innovative concepts into executable projects that will enable future large-scale deployment opportunities.\nThis is a highly visible role that combines technical excellence, systems thinking, and project leadership. You will work on complex engineering challenges, engage directly with clients and stakeholders, and influence critical decisions during the earliest stages of project development. Success in this role will contribute directly to securing future business opportunities and advancing strategic growth initiatives for the company.\nYour role\nResponsible for engineering activities across feasibility, conceptual design, FEED, detailed design, commissioning, and operational support phases.\nProvide design solutions for process plant systems and pressure equipment.\nPrepare and/or review design documents for plant equipment of a chemical plant e.g. equipment design, design calculations, assessments, technical specifications, drawings, BOMs and System Code Classification.\nPrepare and review engineering drawings, equipment specifications, model reviews, and system integration activities.\nPerform and review equipment sizing, equipment selection, and system performance evaluations.\nCoordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated and technically robust design solutions.\nDrive technical decision-making, design optimization, and value engineering activities throughout project development.\nIdentify, evaluate, and manage technical, operational, and project risks.\nSupport evaluation of system total lifecycle costs, considering development, operation, maintenance, and disposal costs, to evaluate design and operational concept alternatives.\nEnsure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, licensing requirements, and company quality requirements.\nSupport regulatory, permitting, and stakeholder engagement activities.\nInterface with internal and external stake holders as required.\nAbout You\n· Degree from an accredited university in Systems Design, Industrial, Mechanical or Process Engineering, or other suitable cross-cutting engineering program.\n· Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in design and integration of complex systems required, with at least 2 years’ experience in a regulated industry. Note that the Enabling Projects this team undertakes are not necessarily nuclear in nature, but some experience with the nuclear industry is preferred.\n· Licensed by a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada is required. A licensed Professional Engineer from a Canadian provincial Professional Engineering organization (e.g., PEO) is preferred.\n· Working knowledge of pressure boundary licensing requirements, and interface with TSSA/ CNSC.\n· Proven technical risk and project management skills to allow for the effective planning and tracking of engineering development activities.\n· Experience designing complex systems and providing systems integration engineering support to early FEED, construction and commissioning of design/build projects is required. Experience with complex industrial facility full life cycle engineering (e.g., operations, plant modifications, or decommissioning) is considered an asset.\n· Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems from a blank canvas through to completion, identifying potential risks and effective solutions.\n· Desire and demonstrated ability to innovate and improve engineering activities and deliverables using emerging technologies is an asset.\n· Effective organizational skills, including demonstrated skill in time management and setting priorities, with proven ability to manage technical activities effectively under tight schedules and budget.\n· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, as well as communicating and working effectively with external customer and regulator stakeholders.\n· Adaptable to change and thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.\n· Must be eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada.\n· Must be able to travel to client sites as required, according to specific project needs.\nWorker Type\nEmployeeJob Type\nRegularAt AtkinsRéalis, we seek to hire individuals with diverse characteristics, backgrounds and perspectives.
