This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects across sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, aviation, residential, corporate real estate, and retail, while contributing to the growth of our specialist M&E cost management capability.\nYour role\nAs an MEP Quantity Surveyor, you will provide expert cost management services across the full project lifecycle, supporting successful project delivery while building strong client relationships.\nKey responsibilities include:\nDelivering pre- and post-contract MEP cost management services across a diverse project portfolio.\nPreparing cost estimates, feasibility studies, cost plans, and budgets.\nMonitoring project costs and implementing cost control measures to ensure projects remain within budget.\nLeading contract administration activities, including tender preparation, evaluation, and management of variations.\nProviding cost monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting to project stakeholders.\nAdvising clients on key MEP cost drivers, project costs, value engineering opportunities, and procurement strategies.\nSupporting business development initiatives and increasing client engagement across services and sectors.\nContributing to the growth and development of the Southampton M&E team, with the opportunity to progress into a team leadership role.\nProviding technical guidance and specialist MEP cost advice to internal and external stakeholders.\nBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.\nAbout you\nWe are looking for a motivated and commercially focused professional with strong technical expertise in MEP cost management.\nEssential\nBSc degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.\nWorking towards, or commitment to achieving, MRICS Chartership.\nDemonstrable experience delivering both pre- and post-contract MEP quantity surveying services.\nStrong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and their impact on overall construction costs.\nExperience across multiple sectors such as infrastructure, commercial, residential, healthcare, aviation, or education.\nSound understanding of procurement strategies and contract administration.\nAbility to advise clients on project costs, value engineering, and commercial risks.\nExperience working directly with clients, consultants, and contractors.\nStrong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under changing deadlines.\nExcellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.\nProactive, enthusiastic, flexible, and ambitious, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.\nRewards & benefits\nExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive - at every stage of your life and your career.
