This role will bridge software development and engineering, delivering reliable solutions and promoting good software development practices across the wider team.\nYour role\nDesign, develop, test, deliver and maintain software applications that automate offshore wind engineering processes.\nDevelop solutions for areas such as geometry generation, analysis automation, data processing and results visualisation.\nCollaborate with engineers and other stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams to understand business needs and define software requirements.\nTranslate engineering requirements and calculations into robust, maintainable software.\nProduce high-quality, well-structured and well-documented code that follows coding standards and software engineering best practices.\nReduce software risk through automated testing, code reviews and controlled release processes.\nParticipate in DevOps activities, including work planning, estimation and the setup and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.\nProduce clear user and developer documentation.\nSupport users and stakeholders during the introduction and ongoing use of software applications.\nSupport and mentor engineers in developing engineering scripts, helping them deliver projects and adopt good practices for producing reliable, maintainable code.\nContribute to the development and continuous improvement of software standards, processes and guidance.\nAbout you\nEssential experience and skills\nA degree or equivalent professional experience in software engineering and structural engineering.\nProfessional experience developing applications using Python.\nA strong understanding of object-oriented design and general software design principles.\nExperience writing clean, modular, maintainable and testable code.\nExperience creating and maintaining automated unit tests.\nExperience using Git-based version control.\nDesirable experience and skills\nDeveloping web applications using technologies such as JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, Node.js and React.\nIntegrating software with specialist engineering applications, such as SESAM, Abaqus or Autodesk Inventor.\nExperience in the design or analysis of offshore structures.\nWorking with relational or non-relational databases.\nUsing cloud platforms and container technologies.\nDeveloping Excel based tools using formulas and VBA.\nRewards & benefits\nExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive - at every stage of your life and your career.
