This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.\nYour role\nAtkinsRéalis US Nuclear is the subsidiary of AtkinsRéalis focused on serving government and commercial clients within the Nuclear sector in the United States. \nWe are focused on being recognized as a premier nuclear solutions company in the United States, delivering engineering, operations, and project management services.\nServes both legacy and new build nuclear clients who are designing, building, upgrading, operating and maintaining nuclear power generation and fuel cycle assets. \nWe are a growing business, building on the foundation of our US government fuel cycle business, our international position as an Original Equipment Manufactor (OEM) and nuclear reactor technology provider, and our world-wide nuclear new build and legacy nuclear fleet maintenance experience.\nExecutes Small Modular Reactor and nuclear fuel cycle facility projects.\nDevelops and conceptualizes system architecture, flow diagrams, and piping/instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for nuclear facilities, auxiliary systems, or fuel cycle models.\nPerforms rigorous evaluations to ensure that systems, structures and components maintain chemical safety, criticality controls, radiation shielding, and defense-in-depth principles under normal and off-normal conditions, including accident scenarios.\nEnsures that all engineering designs align with local, state, and federal standards, including DOE or NRC regulations.\nSelects, tests, and specifies mechanical components, valves, and vessels to ensure they withstand highly regulated and hazardous environments.\nEvaluates test or validation data to improve the efficiency of existing nuclear facilities.\nDevelops key design deliverables such as Process drawings, Process Flow Diagrams and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams/Engineering Flow Diagrams.\nPrepares, checks and/or approves calculations including mass, energy and flow balances, and pipe and equipment sizing.\nPrepares engineering documents such as specifications for process equipment.\nEnsures that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations and customer specific standards, including nuclear quality assurance standards.\nEnsures that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel.\nProduces documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented.\nDevelops resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nAbout you\nBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.\nMinimum of two (2) years post-baccalaureate experience.\nPrevious experience providing engineering support to nuclear facility design, construction or operations.\nStrong communication skills in a challenging, multi-tiered environment.\nStrong organizational skills.\nKnowledge of key NRC regulations, design codes and standards for commercial nuclear facilities required. \nKnowledge in the use of related design software codes, including process simulation software.\nProfessional Engineering (PE) License desired.\nDesign of Commercial and Department of Energy nuclear reactor projects.\nDesign of Commercial and Department of Energy nuclear fuel cycle facilities.\nNuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience.\nRewards & benefits\nAt AtkinsRéalis, our values-Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence-are more than just words.
