Key clients include Department for Infrastructure, Transport for Wales, National Highways, as well as numerous local authority clients across the UK.\nThis role is to support the growth and development of our active travel team across Scotland and Northern Ireland, and to be a part of our wider UK team providing technical excellence in this field.\nThe role will focus primarily on the design and delivery of active travel infrastructure projects of varying complexity across the UK via our existing significant and recent local authority framework wins. We will expect you to promote a multi-disciplinary approach to active travel and help shape and develop our local offering with key clients.\nYou will play a key role in supporting the wider team to continually improve our client offering. There will also be opportunities to support other national and international high-profile projects including design standards and guidance production, innovation and research projects.\nThe role is to be based in either our Glasgow or Edinburgh offices, with occasional travel to other offices or sites may be required.\nWe are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic individual with significant experience in the active travel field. An eye for detail and confidence to challenge decisions and concepts in a constructive and collaborative way are key attributes for this role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with clients and stakeholders across the region and able to work collaboratively with an existing team of highly motivated active travel professionals.\nYour role\nLead the delivery of active travel projects and technical work packages.\nUndertake and coordinate the production of reports, drawings, specifications and cost estimates.\nProvide technical guidance and support to engineers and technicians.\nMentor and coach team members and contribute to staff development.\nReview and check technical outputs prepared by others.\nLiaise with clients and stakeholders, explaining technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nSupport resource planning, programme management and project delivery activities.\nIdentify and respond to project risks and opportunities.\nSupport business development through networking, bid preparation and client engagement activities.\nWork collaboratively with other disciplines to develop integrated solutions.\nAbout you\nEssential criteria\nDegree qualified in a relevant subject (Civil Engineering or similar).\nChartered Engineer, Chartered Transport Planning Professional, or working towards chartership.\nDemonstrable experience in the design and delivery of active travel infrastructure.\nExperience designing and retrofitting schemes within existing urban environments.\nStrong understanding of relevant guidance and standards including Cycling by Design, Designing Streets, Inclusive Mobility and the National Roads Development Guide.\nExperience working within multidisciplinary project teams.\nAutoCAD design experience.\nAbility to independently develop robust, practical and innovative engineering solutions.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.\nDesirable criteria\nFull UK driving licence.\nCycling experience.\nProject management experience.\nCivil 3D experience.\nExperience undertaking public and stakeholder consultation.\nKnowledge of MS Project and wider Microsoft Office applications.\nRewards & benefits\nExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive - at every stage of your life and your career.
