In this role, our leaders support the execution of a wide variety of projects by providing technical expertise, leadership to staff, and support for business development activities. This includes collaboration with or overseeing a team of engineers, technologists, and technicians, leading the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems, while also providing technical guidance and mentorship. Technical knowledge of complex building electrical systems and experience as a consulting engineer will set your application apart.\nOur Engineering Services team in Halifax is dynamic and tight-knit, servicing local projects while contributing to large national and international projects as part of distributed virtual project teams. Our projects are varied and span Healthcare, National Defense, Light + Heavy Industrial, Transportation (Rail + Transit, Ports + Marines), Municipal, Federal (including Defense + Nuclear), and Institutional industries.\nYour Role\nPrepare Electrical Engineering fee estimates for proposals, project estimates, design reports and other technical documents as required. Manage and perform other related tasks as required to successfully complete the delivery and handover of projects.\nPreparation of electrical single line diagrams, AC control schematics, wiring distribution schemes, panel schedules. Development of cable block diagrams and cable and conduit schedules. Design of physical layout of electrical equipment, cables, raceways, and grounding plans related to the various facilities within the plant. Coordination studies and arc flash calculations. Perform site inspections and technical support during construction activities.\nSupervise the work of Engineers, Designers and CAD Technicians, provide technical guidance, and mentor and develop junior staff. Support the Director, Mechanical & Electrical Atlantic, in implementing methods and procedures aligned with corporate standards.\nLead and support business development initiatives, including proposal writing and strategic planning for the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering group in Atlantic Canada. Prepare and approve estimates, proposals, and technical bid evaluations.\nBuild and maintain strong internal and external client relationships to support business growth and ensure client satisfaction.\nAssess project resource requirements and participate in continuous HR processes (recruitment, performance evaluations, resource development plans, training, feedback, etc). Contribute to evaluations and training to ensure all team members are properly trained and qualified.\nAll of our engineers apply project management principles to oversee projects and mentor team members. Responsibilities also include collaborating with other engineering disciplines and communicating project status, issues, and solutions to stakeholders, including clients, management, and other departments to ensure successful project outcomes.\nDrive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and project delivery efficiency.\nAbout you\nBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with Engineers Nova Scotia and willing to become a member in other provinces.\nPMP designation or CAPM certification is an asset.\nMinimum 12 years' of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering consulting with progressive responsibilities. At least 3 years in managing/coordinating technical teams.\nDemonstrable experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with clients (i.e. understanding client objectives, anticipating and meeting client needs, and growing our business).\nExperience supervising, mentoring, and motivating a team of engineers and designers.\nWilling to travel occasionally within and outside of Nova Scotia.\nStrong business acumen and client facing skills.
