An opportunity has become available for a Drainage Design or Surface Water Management Specialist to join our Birmingham team and be part of delivering our diverse portfolio of projects both nationally and increasingly internationally. We are looking for a strong collaborator who can support the team in delivering on projects as part of our national Practice.\nThe Individual:\nThe successful candidate shall demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the drainage sector, excellent technical skills across a range of markets. You will be required to undertake a key role in the design of sustainable drainage systems for Infrastructure and Transportation projects and will be responsible for supporting the leadership team in the development of our capability and market offering.\nYour role\nLeading the drainage design delivery for our stand-alone projects and often as part of larger multi-disciplinary schemes.\nDrainage design from concept to detailed design; during construction would be an advantage but is not essential.\nA familiar and extensive use of digital software solutions in drainage design underpinned by sound engineering knowledge.\nWorking within the BIM environment, including but not limited to 3D modelling and Common Data Environments.\nOverseeing and checking the production of drainage designs, models, calculations, and drawings to relevant standards and contributing to technical assurance of designs.\nEnsuring compliance with business management standards for quality, safety and environment.\nManaging and developing stakeholder relationships to support the development of the drainage design within the UK regulatory framework.\nDetermining and assigning drainage design tasks and managing delivery to programme and budget.\nProviding technical input to the preparation of bids and preparation of fee proposals including associated programme and risk considerations.\nSupporting development of more junior members of a team.\nPositive outlook with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.\nDemonstrable track record of technical achievement and client satisfaction.\nAn ability to work both independently as well as within a larger multi-disciplinary team.\nCapable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal staff and external Clients.\nAbility to be flexible and to be able to multi-task and prioritise when necessary.\nFull clean UK driving licence. \nAbout you\nThe role will have key responsibilities for project delivery and maintaining our technical reputation and will contribute to the implementation of our business strategy.\nTechnical Duties\nWork with our Principal or Senior Engineers on projects to ensure AtkinsRéalis delivers Smarter, Faster and More Reliable outcomes for Clients.\nAbility to act as a Technical Lead in own right and oversee people as part of project delivery.\nDrive the development of project technical solutions and take a substantive role in leading the production of deliverables.\nWork and interface with our project managers on budget, change control and programme to ensure successful delivery.\nOversight of drainage project resource, which will include managing the design interface with some of our world-wide delivery teams.\nBe an active part of our internal Technical Network community.\nSupporting digital initiatives and innovations.\nBusiness Duties\nEnsure compliance with corporate standards and policies.\nContribute to team development, improvement, and integration.\nWork with the graduate engineers and apprentice technicians in the team and contribute to their ongoing technical development.\nAttend internal best practice forums and as required support external profile-raising activities.\nSupport our Win Work activities and bidding opportunities.\nRewards & benefits\nExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive - at every stage of your life and your career.
