This role combines design engineering expertise with field execution support, providing technical leadership throughout the full lifecycle of tooling, equipment, and mechanical systems from concept development through deployment, commissioning, maintenance, and field operations.\nThe successful candidate will lead complex engineering assignments, support tooling and field execution activities, mentor junior staff, and interface with clients, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient project delivery.\nYour role within the team\nLead conceptual, preliminary, and detailed mechanical design activities for Retube Tooling, specialized equipment, and field service systems.\nExecute and oversee engineering work packages supporting refurbishment, retube, maintenance, outage, and new-build projects.\nProvide technical leadership for design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, testing, commissioning, deployment, and field implementation activities.\nSupport field execution teams by resolving technical issues, developing corrective actions, and providing engineering guidance during equipment installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.\nPrepare and review engineering deliverables including design requirements, design descriptions, technical specifications, calculations, drawings, test procedures, commissioning plans, operating instructions, and design change packages.\nPerform and verify engineering analyses related to machine design, structural integrity, mechanisms, materials, hydraulics, pneumatics, lifting systems, and pressure-retaining components.\nCoordinate and lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, technologists, designers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and field staff.\nInterface directly with clients, vendors, contractors, and station personnel to define requirements and resolve technical challenges.\nMentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers, designers, and technologists.\nTravel periodically to customer sites and nuclear generating stations to support installation, commissioning, outage execution, inspections, and troubleshooting activities.\nWhy choose AtkinsRéalis as an employer?\nOpportunity to work on major nuclear refurbishment, retube, field services, and new-build projects.\nExposure to both engineering design and field implementation activities.\nCareer growth through leadership, mentoring, and technical specialization opportunities.\nCompetitive compensation, flexible benefits, employee share plan, and defined contribution pension plan.\nStrong commitment to safety, quality, innovation, and professional development.\nCollaborative environment that values technical excellence and work-life balance.\nAbout You\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.\nRegistered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligible for registration.\nTypically 8-12 years of experience in mechanical design, tooling, equipment, automation, field engineering, or nuclear projects.\nStrong understanding of machine design, mechanics of materials, manufacturing methods, and mechanical system integration.\nExperience leading engineering tasks and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.\nExperience supporting field execution, commissioning, maintenance, outage, or refurbishment activities is an asset.\nFamiliarity with nuclear industry codes and standards including ASME and CSA requirements is an asset.\nExperience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Creo, or Inventor.\nExcellent communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.\nExcellent problem-solving, communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.\nAbility to obtain and maintain nuclear security clearance and access authorization.\nAre you up for the challenge?
