This role is ideal for a technically strong and highly motivated engineer who thrives in multidisciplinary project environments and is passionate about delivering high-quality engineering solutions. The preferred location is Bothell, WA with flexibility for hybrid or remote work arrangements.\nThis position supports engineering execution for new and existing power generation facilities, including simple-cycle and combined-cycle plants, and requires strong technical knowledge in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid systems, and equipment specification.\nYour role\nPerform mechanical engineering design for combined cycle and simple cycle power generation systems, including equipment sizing, system modeling, and development of P&IDs.\n\nLead and direct the mechanical engineering team assigned to a project to deliver high-quality power project designs while ensuring effective coordination, technical accuracy, and schedule requirements.\n\nCollaborate closely with multi-discipline engineering teams, clients, and external partners to ensure project technical success.\n\nPrepare calculations, schematics, technical documentation, and design deliverables with clear assumptions and references.\n\nDevelop equipment specifications for pumps, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, compressors, boilers, cooling systems, and balance-of-plant components.\n\nSupport proposal development, cost estimation, and project execution planning as needed.\n\nCoordinate with equipment vendors, review submittals, and respond to technical inquiries.\n\nMaintain a strong commitment to quality assurance, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME B31.1, ASME BPVC, NFPA, HEI, API, etc.).\n\nProvide occasional field engineering support, including site visits, inspections, testing oversight, and construction support.\n\nAbout you\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited program.\n\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferred.\n\nMinimum of 10 years of engineering experience, preferably in power generation or industrial facilities.\n\nExperience in engineering design services and project execution within the energy sector is strongly desirable.\n\nExperience preparing and checking P&IDs, equipment specifications, and mechanical design deliverables.\n\nExperience or desire to work with design tools such as AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, GT Pro, Steam Pro, and Thermoflex.\n\nStrong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow with specific experience in combined cycle plant performance, HRSG systems, steam turbine cycles, and gas turbine auxiliary systems.\n\nAbility to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to colleagues, suppliers, and clients.\n\nFlexibility to manage workload across multiple projects while upholding safety and quality standards.\n\nProficiency in pipe sizing, flow calculations, and modelling of compressible/incompressible systems.\n\nFamiliarity with piping materials, valves, control valves, and relief valve design.\n\nCommitment to mentoring, team collaboration, and maintaining strong professional relationships.\n\nRewards & benefits\nAt AtkinsRéalis, our values-Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence-are more than just words.
